1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
Well Wanted To Share My Truck Build Project And Hope To Get A Little More Info Into The World Of Pulling Trucks Along The Way
Here Is The Long Story Short.... Always Been Into Cars/ Truck, Have A Few Show Cars And Such... After The 20th Or So Buddy Asking Why I Don't Have A (Race Car, Mud Truck, Drag Race, Pull Truck) I Get I Asked Myself "Why Not?" Late Last Friday (Sept 6th) A Buddy Shows Up And Buys A Beater Car Off Me... He Asks What I Have Been Up To And I Put The Idea Out There... Well After A 10:30 Pm Call We Are Off To Drag This Old Truck From Its Grave Before She Goes To The Crusher... $250 Later This Is It [IMG][/IMG]

Re: 1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
its got an eaton 10.5
which i'm told is the same as 14 bolt strength wise i also think its kind of funny seeing the 10 there... but weird as it may seem the history have owns all say that is what was there when they got it... unless the first owner changed it

Re: 1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
also a little update...
so much for the "just needs a starter" all the stock wiring is junk/messed with so nothing works got it started but running a few jumper wires and crossing the starter hopefully get a buyer for some stuff and get the engine swap underway

Re: 1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
That is odd....and you can't find a rust free truck down here for thousands usually.

Re: 1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
I Wouldn't say rust free
the cab floors were rusted and the last owner tried to "fix them" he used panels to cover up most of the holes i still need to join the main floor with the rockers i will upload some more pics tonight if all goes like it should the little 307 will be moving out soon and i can pick up the pulling engine... a good friend is building a bigger and "better" one for his truck... it's got 5 pulls on it so i'm sure i can get some more from it until i get mine built

Re: 1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
Gas motor? Run alky or something like that? What class will you pull in? Sorry for all the questions, I have some experience with drag racing and farm stock tractor pulling, but totally zero on truck pulling.

Re: 1968 Longhorn Pulling Truck "Built For It"
That's pretty cool! I know in the hot farm classes get almost to the point of the person who can get up the most speed wins. That's tractors. Seems like kind of a mix between pulling and racing.
Those are some serious rpms for serious time, though.Posted via Mobile Device |

i didnt see it in the rules, but do what i did and weld the rear end gears or get a locker for it. my first time out, i had an open diff and it didnt work out very well lol looks like a great start, dont be surprised if the small block powers out on you. feel free to use whatever ideas you can off of mine man!
