brake booster advice
Would you go 7" dual or 9" single booster on a drum/drum upgrade...or doesn't it make a difference in braking improvement?

I can't answer your question directly. I can only imagine that a 7" single stage should be enough for a single master.
I run a dual master with disc/drum and use a dual 9" booster. It almost feels too soft at times.

The dual diaphragm is recommended for disc/disc because of the higher psi. If that's your future plan, I'd go with that.
Here's a quick explanation: Dual Diaphragm Boosters The website of MBM Brake Boosters states that disc brake systems require 1000 p.s.i. to be applied to the wheels. Dual diaphragm brake boosters are need for four wheel disc system because they can produce a higher level of brake assist even if their physical size is smaller. I'm sticking with my drum/drum set up.
Thanks for the feedback. I had heard a dual booster on drum/drum can make the brakes feel too light. Dont mind some effort but not the "I'm going to die" sensation I occassionally have with my current unassisted dual MC set up. Sounds like a 9" single will do the trick.

I have drum/drum and a dual master cylinder. I do not get very good brakes at all. Is that normal? Yes I know the im going to die sensation and dont like it at all.
I had a Nova that did not have power brakes and it had decent brakes. I was very surpised at my 67 3/4 tons lack of braking. |

I think its pretty normal for unassisted truck brakes. My '54 1 ton was definitely like that. I can still lock the wheels on the '70 if I bear down hard enough. I dont mind the effort but I would like to avoid the occassional need to change my trou.

7" is way too small for a heavy truck. OEM is 11" single. The 8" dual will give about the same assist as the 11" OEM single. 9" single will be a little less.
