99 Chevy Suburban C1500 AC Hose Assembly Leak?

Local mechanic says my problem is a AC Hose Assembly leak which sounds expensive to fix. Lots of condensation on this hose when driving but I am not running the AC.
I have not noticed the AC loosing coldness when I have ran it. I have seen this like this the entire summer but thought it was normal because I was running the AC.

Looking for second opinion before spending $$$

Thanks guys.

if that's your only issue with the AC you have found a very good salesman in the mechanic. A cold surface will collect condensation during high humidity. Like a beer can taken from fridge and into the back yard. The low side metal lines generally run about 34*F when in operation. Operation will happen if you have HVAC set to defrost

I have no heat coming out of the defrost vents when in defrost setting. This started when I replaced my old controller with a new one. The new on won't blow heat out defrost. Old one wouldn't blow heat out at all. Used controller causing THIS Issue with condensation?

ignore the condensation. it is normal for an operational AC system.

did you properly install the control? key off, disconnect battery, replace part, reconnect battery, turn key on and TOUCH NOTHING for 1 minute while the actuators self calibrate

Nope. Because I'm an oak!! So this condensation sweats so bad it sizzles falling off into the valve cover. The AC is off when this is found. I haven't ran it in a week. Still that much? Sorry total newb.

It just seems weird there would be that kind of sweat and that much when I don't even have the AC on. Can clarify sir? Thanks

assuming you don't have the controls set to defrost there is some diagnostics that you need to do. The ECM controls the compressor clutch relay based on inputs from various sensors and the HVAC controls telling it A/C is requested.

Re: 99 Chevy Suburban C1500 AC Hose Assembly Leak?

Your ac lines will not show condensation unless the compressor is engaged. The ac button normally lights up when ac is selected but not always in case you are thinking it's off when it's not lit.
My 03 Tahoe's ac button works backwards. It's lit when the ac is off and not when it's on. I suspect someone has changed the control panel somewhere along the line in mine.
It could be your old control panel was alright but the blend door actuators were at fault. They are small electric motors and do fail.
