Finally got me a bed!
I finally got me a bed this morning! I found this bed located about an hour away from me. The owner was building a 69 step side and had this bed trucked in from Texas. It is amazing shape for being a 69. There's a few dents here and there, but ultimately it doesn't have any rust that needs repaired! Plus the tailgate is near 90%condition. Ever since I've bought my truck I have been on the hunt for a bed.

Re: Finally got me a bed!
I'm pretty pumped! Im headed to the media blaster tomorrow to get it blasted and get a shot coat of epoxy primer. I already got a guy thats ready to pull the dents and get to work on it. I'll post up some better pics once it gets out of the blaster.

Re: Finally got me a bed!
Yep, my truck is a 69, however the cab is already smoothed out. So I was planning on smoothing the bed anyway! This just created less work! Curious though, what year did it come off of?

Re: Finally got me a bed!
That is a 67, it is the only year they didn't have marker lights. There are two simple fixes, Fix#1 is to put in the marker lamp holes from patches from some bedsides[fenders may be the same as far as everything else goes]. Fix# 2 fill in the front markers on the fenders for a smooth or "shaved" look.Or I guess there is fix #3 find somebody needing either 67 bedsides or a bed willing to trade you for one with the holes. All of this is of course gonna depend on ability and time constraints and looking at the other of your posts, I think you have some time and a good bit of talent to draw from so it is down to just deciding what to do. Sometimes that is the hardest part of a build.Either way if you need help ,holler, Jim

Re: Finally got me a bed!
Right on man, thanks for the help! I just knew that I was going to smooth it anyways, so when I noticed it didn't have any markers, I just thought to myself "bonus"! The guy I bought the bed from said that is supposedly the original paint. The bottom of the bed is in 100% condition. I will get some better pics of it once it gets out of the blaster.

Re: Finally got me a bed!
I don't even want to know how much you shelled out for it! It looks to be in really nice shape. I wanna see it when it comes from blasting! Excellent score! There can't be too many more original 67 beds in that condition out there like that and up for sale.

Re: Finally got me a bed!
Well I posted a wanted add on craigslist and the fella called me up that same day. Lucky for me it was close by and wasnt ever put up for sale. Cash price was more than fair I think. If anyones looking for a short bed stepper, hes got a 69 in pretty good project shape. Hes asking the right price for it as well.
