Re: Heading to the car show, I met this deer...
Highsider, if the rest of your roof is good, I would not replace it all. Still get the donor roof because I believe you will be missing an inner brace that they would of taken out to put in the sun roof.

My appointment with body shop #2 is later today. The first body shop I called, a buddy, said they are making too much money replacing parts on newer vehicles, or they would do mine. Orrie: that is one way to do it.

Re: Heading to the car show, I met this deer...
What insurance do you have? I'm shopping for some insurance and wondering which one is better for our classic trucks.
Thanks! |

My regular insurance said they insure Model A antiques, so I told them the maximum value and we added it to my other vehicle plan.

Re: Heading to the car show, I met this deer...
ouch, i hope your covered.
59 stepside: classic car ins companies have agreed value policies. you agree on the value and they charge you for that value. most require locked storage at night, some have limited milage, all require a regular daily driver. i use grundy worldwide (grundy.com), i've also used haggerty and may go back to them soon

Re: Heading to the car show, I met this deer...
Well, I should know soon, as the shop emailed the estimate to my adjuster this morning.
It was Haggerty that denied my application. This vehicle is my combination billboard, in my parking area, and the shop delivery vehicle for the shorter trips. That is 95% of the reason I bought it.

Re: Heading to the car show, I met this deer...
That would make it a commercial use vehicle rather than a pleasure vehicle in their eyes.
And you nailed it on the specialty companies. They do want the cars stored inside and primarily driven for pleasure only. It's better to be honest and use the company that will deal with the way you do rather than have one turn down a claim because you didn't give them all the details up front. Hitting a deer, coyote or other critter on the way to a car show isn't a new thing though. In the past 40 years you are one of several I have heard about hitting a critter on the way to a show.
