Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

I sanded all my fake patina by hand. It was ROUGH. When you say your prayers, you should thank the Lord for a da sander!

Your carport made a pretty good paint-booth! What color did you paint it?

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Maybe before you unmask it, you could re-tape for some rally stripes over the hood/roof/trunk? Maybe in a flat "other" color. You wouldn't have to go over the bumpers like I did, just keep it simple. Just putting hell in you head! otherwise looking good!

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Yeah, its another reason i kinda rushed my paint. Yesterday was the only day it would be near 70 other then today. However today may have tornado etc. Next week its like highs of 50 so my vacation to paint ended up my weekend to paint...lol Damn crazy TN weather

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

I think it looks decent, man. A wet sanding will clean it up, as will a once over with a polishing compound. Either way, I dig the color!! Makes me miss when my truck was flat black. Maybe I should paint my crew cab blitz black??

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

well wet sanding and buffing wont work, it will turn it gloss.... There are just runs all over and where it was just bondo u can see a slight difference in color. So im going to have to scuff it and put another coat on. I looks much better then it use too and from 10ft it looks awesome lol.... blitz black rocks but so does your truck

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. I think you will be able to tell best when it's in the sun. But, you are right, it looks waaay better than it did!

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Well I pulled her out today and will let her sit in the sun for a day or so before I wet sand and put her back in the booth. She looks great from a distance but the closer you get the more you can see the runs and such. I also removed the plastic floor and will replace that before putting her back in. That way less dust. As of right now I am thinking tomorrow afternoon ill start the wet sanding with 400 grit and then clean her up and put her back in. That way wed afternoon i can put the final coat on her.

She looks EVIL! It's 75 here today. Weird weather!

You'll get it right. Take your time. Runs or not, looks killer in pics!

I repainted the entire nose of my truck back in '06 because of a couple runs. Got it right the last time!

After the wet sand ill put on the final coat. Stripes will be down the road a month or so as it is the season to buy gifts but it should only be a month or so. I just want to give her time to dry completely out so ill let her sit inside the car port a few weeks and so on.

The storm was fine here and my paint both survived lol
