Stainless Frame Fuel Lines
Car Boss has pretty much completed the fuel system. Here are some pics of his handy work. Fuel lines, Internal Fuel pump, etc.

Re: 72 GMC Short Step Build
Hidden Fuse Door
Double E, is building a new wiring harness and the decision was made to add an additional fuse panel and locate it on the passenger side above the vintage air main unit. Rather than remove the glove box to access the fuse panel, Car Boss cleverly made a hidden door in the back of the box. It's the little things that make this fun.

Re: 72 GMC Short Step Build
Vintage Air High Pressure Switch Add
Double E also suggested a high pressure switch be added to the Vintage Air set up, so Car Boss added this little addition.

Re: 72 GMC Short Step Build
Back Cab Wall Heat and Sound Insulation
My iphone was draining power and I had it swapped for a new one. Unfortunately I think I lost some pics of the cab sound deadening project. The firewall and toeboard was covered first with Dynamat, then a layer of aluminized closed cell foam and last Mass Load Vinyl. I do have several pics of the back wall which was completed yesterday. Can't see the Dynamat, but it's under there. You'll notice an upper strip of the aluminized foam, then the MLV, and last a small carpet strip just below the window. We need to get this finished so that Car Boss could finish up the fuel line connections. So, we're starting to finally put things back together. All my nice sound deadening is now covered up by the gas tank. Hopefully this will help quite the cab down. Still need to finish the floor, but that can wait until we finish everything under the dash.

89 Corvette Cruise Control w/resume
Cruise control, we got to have cruise control! So......... I purchased a cruise control lever from a 84-89 Corvette, complete with resume function. The only problem is this lever was not designed to attach to a 72 column. Car Boss to the rescue! Starting with this: To this:

It is an Imperial Eastman flaring tool #2000FS. It can be used in a vise or handheld and will do single, double, 37 degree, and 45 degree flares as well as swaging. They are very expensive, but if you do a lot of flaring or work with stainless steel like I do it is worth it. I have had mine for 15 years or more and I think it was approx. $200. I see that they are over $400 now, although I did see that one sold on Ebay recently for less than a $100. I also used it on the A/C switch on Z10's truck. |
