1975 wipermotor

I am wondering if someone could ihelp me, the previous owners have made a mess of the electrical on this truck. My wiper motor only has one harness going to it, there is spots for three. My wipers won't park so I am assuming one is for the park relay. There is now an in tank washer pump which I assume is one of the empty ones, I would just like it to park on it's own if it just a wiring issue.

Re: 1975 wipermotor

Hopefully someone will chime in and say it's a wiring problem.
Unfortunately, for my '73, the docking seemed to be in the wiper motor itself. I never did fix it.
One of the bolts holding the wiper motor to the firewall is also the ground, you could try cleaning that up, and cross your fingers.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Re: 1975 wipermotor

Hi Tim,

What you have there appears to be the newer 1978 + style motor.

The original 73 - 77 wiper motors have a larger round motor housing and the park switch on them is wired internally.

With the 78+ motor there are 3 connectors as you've noticed. The 3-terminal plug at the bottom (that is wired up on yours) has the +12V power wire and two other wires that get grounded for the high and low speeds.

The 2-terminal plug with the wide flat blades sticking out on the front is for the washer pump solenoid. And the other smaller 2-terminal plug closest to the top is for the park switch.

Check the 78 or newer service manuals and wiring diagrams that hatzie posted at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=545416 ... they should have the wiring diagrams that show how the park switch gets wired into the circuit.
