A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Here's a picture of the bolt - it's 1 1/2" long under the head with a 3/4" long shoulder, 1/2" long thread, and 1/4" long end...when I screw it into the threaded hole it bottoms out when the shoulder reaches the cab, such that the belt swings quite freely - is this normal?
Thanks! |

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
I'm not 100% sure about this for the 67-72's, but I know that on the 73-up shoulder belts this is how it's designed, so it should be the same.

Yes, swivel is correct.

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
No ! Gm makes a few different seat belt bolts , The one you have is for the center floor pan location it is a 13/16 bolt they make another that has a shorter shoulder for the pillar post location ...so it still swivels but doesn't flop around sloppily ...

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
That's kinda what I was thinking since it doesn't just swivel, it flops sloppily. I currently have a single lap buckle belt - I assume that the bolt pictured would be more appropriate for mounting two lap buckle belts together, and the bolt that's currently securing my single lap buckle belt would work for the shoulder belt.... Does anyone have the specific lengths of the shoulder portion of the bolts for those two anchor points?

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
There are 3 sizes for these trucks
One has no shoulder and is used for the outside closest to the door The second has a short shoulder and is used at the shoulder belt anchor point The third has the longer shoulder and as you said is used in the center floor position for anchoring 2 sets of belts to 1 anchor point used for the extra 3rd passenger in the center seat , hope that helps |

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Do a search on EBay. I have seen two size lengths maybe what you need. I believe only $2 a piece.

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Shoulder belts were available in 67. There is actually a set for sale in the parts section.

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Here is how mine are mounted. These are the bolts that were original to the shoulder belts.

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Those belts Harold had are 67, you can tell by the male buckle ends...I also have the same style. It is well documented that shoulder belts were an option in 67.

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Curious since I never seen 67 shoulder belts before. Are the buckle ends aircraft style with the bow tie raised lifting release type the same as the lap belts?

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
yes they are. the Chevy trucks in 67 only had the raised bowtie on the buckle gmc trucks had the same latch just smooth with no raised bowie. the 67 and possibly earlier truck shoulder and seatbelts also use a different mounting plate to the floor than 68-74. the one that mounts to the pillar is the same throughout all the years.

Re: A question on installing an original '67 shoulder belt
Then it is possible some maybe found in a Camaro or Chevelle as I have seen the same lap style in those also.
