Shucks Daily 97

Here's my truck build, I'm done for awhile because of my 79 build but this is my daily driver.
Started off with an Oklahoma, 1997 GMC v6 2wd with about 182K on it. Had a rebuilt motor about 60K ago, and a tranny that was 80K ago. Decent ride considering that I was 16 when I got it as my school truck. Growing up and learning to do more mechanical stuff with a job at John Deere and a Auto Tech class at school I'm able to learn and take what I learn and put it into my truck. Body work I learned at school in my welding class, and I took it to the rear end of my truck.
Heres how it started.

then this is how I rolled for a long time.

then body work began.

looked like this for about a week.

Then started the lowering.

4 in the back

2 in the front.

the easy choice to choose to live without rings.

back to body work... Hello paint!

Now totally road worthy,

I have now a side exhaust put on, no pictures yet, cant keep the damn thing clean.

Re: Shucks Daily 97

Nice truck, & good job on the roll pan & repair panel. I just purchased a set of the Street Scene sport mirrors for my Tahoe as well. I dig the billet grille & chrome smoothie front bumper too. However, I liked the wheels better with trim rings; they accent the chrome grille ring & bumper nicely IMO.

What kinda side exhaust you got?

Looks awesome! Were those the stock mirrors you painted? Pulling mine soon, they have scratches and cuts all over.

Re: Shucks Daily 97

Thanks fellas.
Side exhaust is custom with a 3 inch Pypes m80 muffler. They use them a lot on mustangs but it has an awesome sound to it, even with a 4.3.

Mirrors are Streetscene. Good mirrors, I like them.

Re: Shucks Daily 97

Unfortunately my pride and joy couldn't handle itself on an ice-gravel road. I was going around 15-20 MPH topping a hill as another car was cruising in the middle of the road, two girls who were careless. I swerved out of the way and lost control on the way down the hill, they were already over the hill by the time this happened, they don't even know it happened. Could have been worse, by hitting the tree instead of the fence post or possibly rolling the thing...

Making the most of it by getting the lights I really wanted instead of ones that were christmas gifts last year, and a new valance because my other was falling off due to me trying to get used to a lowered truck.
Unfortunatly a new grill needs painted and i gotta swap the billet insert over. Basically retracing my steps because the grill that is damaged was brand new last year. Damn I dont want to do this again.

Re: Shucks Daily 97

Hate to see/hear that man, but I'm glad you're okay & it wasn't worse. At least you get to do a couple improvements, but I know it sucks to retrace steps.

Re: Shucks Daily 97

Worst part was the fact I got into a barbed wire fence. Kinda scratched the crap out of te bumper, which was a brand new bumper. It has a dent in it from the fence post but for right now trying to save money for my project 79 I'm keeping it on.

Are the mirrors the street scene calvu? Do you know of any folding mirrors for these trucks by any chance?

Yes, his "new" white mirrors are Street Scene Cal-Vu. I just bought a set for my Tahoe. The old mirrors (black) that you see in his other pics are factory style mirrors that actually fold. I have a set from mine that will soon be for sale. However, I'm not aware of any sport mirrors that fold, if that's what you're looking for.

The mirrors are a nice subtle touch. I'm sorry about the accident and damage to your nice truck.

Re: Shucks Daily 97

I'm actually working on it right now. The grill is painted and ready to go but the lights that I bought aren't fitting right. My blinker is either too small or the mold for my grill is wrong. The marker lights don't thread in like my other ones did, so now I need to figure out how to get things fit right. It's been just a pain in the ass. Wish this never happened.

Yessir. Kinda wish I had skinnier ones up front so I can go lower. I never had plans of lowering the truck when I got the tires. The fronts stick out a bit and would have caused some problems if I went any lower
