need 'lowering' threads for the 60-66 FAQ Index.
Howdy projects & build folks...
I'm Woogeroo, a fellow truck nut. Now, within the 60-66 FAQ Index thread, listed in Section 2B I have this Category here : Lowering Which contain a few threads I've found that deal with lowering our trucks and 'burbs. However, since I have not lowered my truck, nor have any plans to do so I don't have a lot of links about the various areas/items/problems that are specific to dropping trucks or laying frame. But!!! I know some of you folks are just crazy about laying frame and using big wheels, etc., so I'm trying to include the 'whole family' in the FAQ. So... if you come across or already know about some useful/informational threads about lowering related projects that are on this forum(and I know there are a bunch on here, somewhere), please let me know... either in this thread or by a PM. If you have some awesome links to relevant to websites/blogs/photo albums of reside on outside of this forum, let me know about those too... I will check 'em out and add 'em to the External Links area in Section 3. If you choose to send me some links from this forum, I will need the following information(peruse the FAQ and you'll get the idea) : topic thread title / month and year thread was started / url of thread / and roughly the number of posts If you are sending me links to external sites, I will need the title/link and a brief description of why the site is interesting in relation to dropping trucks and laying frame. See the External Links in Section 3 to get an idea of what I mean. I'm not looking for vendors or parts sources, I'm looking for technical information. Preferably threads where everything is hosted on this forum. I only edit the FAQ when I have the time and I am in the mood to do so. I build up a list of things to add in a .txt file... then when I start working on it I can add a bunch of stuff at once. If ya want more lowering stuff in the FAQ, please let me know what you find or already know about. Thanks a bunch. your friendly 60-66 FAQ Archivist,p.s. if you see this post and find/know about some other cool 60-66 related awesome informative threads that I don't already have listed, send me a PM about those too... or just add a message in here : the old 60-66 FAQ suggestion thread. I'll see it in there and check it out! Last edited by Woogeroo; 12-24-2013 at 09:06 AM. |

Re: need 'lowering' threads for the 60-66 FAQ Index.
I did a super low budget drop on my '66... cost was $0.00 lol. I cut 1.5 coils off the original front springs, and added jeep TJ rear springs in place of the stockers. I got those for free from a guy who added a lift kit to his Jeep. The front bump stops will need to be trimmed if going this route. The rear springs seem soft, I'll update the thread once I start driving the truck. Might need a rear sway bar and stiffer shocks to make them work.
Here's the thread, lowering details are on page 3. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=604632 Before and after pics.

I added 'em both in... check out the entries and see if I explained the content correctly. theastroanaut, which posts are you referring to in your thread? I wanted to reference those, precisely. Thx. Thanks fellas, it's a start. If you come across any technical articles in the 60-66 area, regarding our trucks... related to lowering, please let me know about them. I know they are in there somewhere, cuz I've read a few of them. -W |
