What mufflers to buy?
I have a 260 hp gm performance crate engine with long tube headers no X,H,Y, or any other letter pipes. Right now I've got some sort of stock type mufflers that I just snatched off a parts truck to get me by until I could afford mufflers. My question is WHAT MUFFLERS SHOULD I GET? I'm leaning toward MAGNAFLOW but their website is messed up and I can't hear the sounds so I don't know which of the couple hundred different mufflers they make would pair well with what I've got. I'm not dead set on MAGNAFLOW I think I just like them because they are all nice and pretty haha. Anyways I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could give me a little insight as to what they have and maybe some videos so I can hear for myself.

Re: What mufflers to buy?
Hey Markallen,
20 / 40 Series Flowmasters in my opinion sound the best with horsepower. Have had them on many old school Cars/Trucks, will be installing new exhaust in early Feb on the 71 K5 with`em too! Good luck, let us know what you picked and Merry Christmas. Nick

I have the same setup, op. Magnaflow bullets, sounds about as good as an 8:1 stock cam 350 can.

Re: What mufflers to buy?
I originally had the flowmaster 40 (I believe) and they were so loud I couldn't hear a thing driving down the road. I went with magnaflow mufflers and love em. They have an awesome rumble to them. If you want a very loud rumble then I would suggest you go with the flowmaster. Depends on what your wanting.

Re: What mufflers to buy?
I wanted quiet, so I cross referenced a OEM muffler 2.5 in, 2.5 out, and ended up with a listing for a cadillac eldo. They're huge, but work great. I'm using two of them for my long tube headers and twice pipes.

Re: What mufflers to buy?
blowmasters spend a small fortune and make great amount of noise while goin nowhere fast
better off with generic type turbo mefflers at the parts store and spending the excess money you have on real horsepower adders
