1972 Chevy Army Pickup

I just thought I would throw this one out there only because I have not ever seen one of these before. A 1972 Chevy Army Pickup? You never know what you'll find out behind the barn in West Texas.

Re: 1972 Chevy Army Pickup

Very cool! I'd love to find one of those one day. I have a M1009 Blazer, a M880 PowerWagon, a M35A2 Deuce and a half, and I had two M715 Jeeps, a M101A2 trailer and a M105 trailer, so one of these would fit in nicely with my collection!

Did you happen to get any close up shots of the data plates?

Re: 1972 Chevy Army Pickup

I believe my 69 stepside may have been an army truck too and probably looked just like that. It's been changed completely over the years even before I got it but the holes remain in the glove door from the tag. It's a low option truck (was) and has the odd option codes found on government trucks. Under a few layers of paint, I found a drab olive green color.

I just got an antique tag for it and now on the new title is says it was first titled in 1980 and has the F code for out of county. I wish I made a copy of the prior title I had because I don't remember those on it before. ?????

Re: 1972 Chevy Army Pickup

That's cool my dad bought a 56 chevy 4door car that was an army vehicle when I was a teen ager. I drove it to school for a year. The best we could tell from the plates on dash it was used on a base to drive the higher up staff around.

Re: 1972 Chevy Army Pickup

We had a lot of those trucks at the bases I was stationed,(mostly 67-69's forty+years ago). The motorpool was littered with them. They were equipped with straight six and three on the tree without any options. We signed a couple out every morning to do company level running around. Battalion level we signed out M151's. Most of the tactical trucks never left the motorpool on the fort.
