Most of us here are guys, and most guys like the pretty girls =) My attitude on having that kind of stuff around, or hanging in my garage has changed a ton. I grew up with three brothers, no sisters (well I do have a half sister, but I've probably only seen her four times in my life). I have two sons and no daughters. Any calendar I did have up was never offensive enough to be disturbing to my wife. But now I have three grand daughters and I just wont have that kind of stuff out at all. Its not a message I want them to associate with their grandpa. LOL, I sure sound like an old fuddy duddy Keep On Truckin

All of you are wrong and stupid, and Jesus doesn't love you! Fords Rule!!!!
Yeah, just kidding, but I had to. CG, I too have been fortunate enough to not have seen any of the rough posts, but thank you very much for saying something so it never gets that way. My 6 year old daughter is my little gear head and she loves sitting with me looking at pics on this site too!

Re: Hey New Guys ....
Great post. I personally don't like car clubs or forums because of the one sided people for lack of a better term, but I live on this site the people are great and I hope it stays this way.

I have both a Pontiac 350 and 400 I even have a BOP TH350 and TH400. My dream is a tremec though!
I'd also like to add, that if you're reading this, you're somewhat new (or not), and you think it may be about you, just assume it is. You'll be warned, then you'll be banned. Pissing matches and belittling other members is not tolerated, no matter how right you think you may be. I have personally hung out with the owners of this site and lots of the moderators. Very cool people. This place is awesome and we all intend, and will, keep it that way, so if you didn't bother to read the rules when signing up, consider this a warning

Re: Hey New Guys ....
I am new here. I am also a member of some other forums. One in particular is not moderated to be family friendly and I can tell you.. The level of maturity and foul language gets worse all the time. Since finding my 69 K10 I have been here daily. Seems to be a great bunch with a wealth of knowledge and experience. So.. to the admin and moderators.. Thanks for a job well done. I look forward to becoming a part of the community.

Re: Hey New Guys ....
By FAR, this is the best forum out there. Everyone is helpful and seems to play by the old saying "If you don't have something good to say, then don't say anything".
A lot of other forums are full of critics and salesmen, glad that doesn't happen here. I owe a thank you to this site and members for helping me out with my questions, parts and build ideas. Welcome to any new comers and enjoy this forum!

Re: Hey New Guys ....
Hello, greenhorn here. I am truly amazed at the help that is available here. I bought a 67 stepside in November. As a guy who is not the most mechanically inclined, this site has been a god send for me. This site is truly a great example of how forums in a whole can and should work. I have spent many hours searching for answers for questions I have here and I get the feeling I could ask any question here, however mundane, and get honest and respectful answers. A special kudos to the people who take the time to document progress with photos. You guys have helped me tons!! Happy new year to all!

Well... If i have "said" anything out of order I'll make sure I rein myself back in and try not to sample anymore of the local "spring water" while I'm cruising the posts !

I wonder how many forums could be cleaned up by just disallowing any posts between Happy Hour and 3am?

Re: Hey New Guys ....
This is a great site, and the people here helped me more than I can express when I was building my truck. I've seen some "old timers" sort of fade away, but it seems there's a whole new generation coming aboard which is a good thing because the hobby will be perpetuated when us old dogs are gone.
Everyone here is more than willing to answer any questions that may come up, but (another "but" ), before anyone just jumps on a forum with a question, please take a few minutes and use the "search" function. Our trucks are generally 30-50 years old, and there's a good chance that what you need to know has already been discussed at one time or another. If the answer isn't in there, by all means ask away, but a little initiative on your part and you may get your answer quicker than you thought. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...........

Re: Hey New Guys ....
This tread needs to be dug up regularly in the future to remind us of the civilized nature of this forum. Maybe an up front sticky to let the hotheads and destructive comics know thats not what we are about. I follow other forums and this one is by far the most enjoyable simply because of the helpful nature of the people and their unwillingness to crucify somebody for a different idea.

Re: Hey New Guys ....
Well, I sure have enjoyed this forum and all the great members here. It's been a great resource for parts and knowledge. And it's just a fun place to hang out!
I do have some of the aforementioned Pontiacs, so I do visit "TransAmCountry" forum and it's good folks too. I should also say that I do not have, or plan to have any more Fords.

This forum was a little more "edgy" in earlier days. It seldom seemed rude. Josh and Liz have done an incredible job maintaining the integrity here for many years.
I see a few old timer's in here, Anyone remember this. web archive

Re: Hey New Guys ....
I'm kinda new. Love the site. Like some guys. Not so much others. It's the most helpful site. Reminds me of naxja in the old days.
I have to say I try really hard to only give technical info but sometimes I just but at the seams and politics float to the surface. I am greatful for every tid bit. My boys read the site with me and my wife lurks to check stuff out and I'm glad they don't have to read a bunch of swearing or have to see nudes... There's other places for that and if it's what makes your clock tic then go there. Good job and three cheers to the moderators. Nim

CG, well said. I had noticed a few posts that seemed to ruffle feathers here lately. Glad to see it is being handled politely.. And, is your mention of the 62 unibody a build that is actually happening? Could you send me a couple pics? Good friend of mine is building one and he has combined the big three into his. |
