Help please! Value on a 54' truck
Hello guys and gals,
I am in need of your help... I would normally research before I posted for help but have no time before I have to make a decision on purchasing this truck or not... Please help me determine a "fair price" the seller is a local gentleman that is in his mid 70's and has too many projects to get to before he dies - his words, lol. About the truck... 1954 Chevy that was "pasture find" meaning it sat in a pasture for about 15 years before being rescued and then sat for another 5 years and is now up for sale. *It lived in a dry place and rust is minimal, no cancer, and rust holes in the "usual places" are small... the engine turns freely but has not been started in as many years. **The paint is black primer and looks like a rat rod. ***Body is in pretty good shape, no major dents, and again rust is minimal. ****Glass is all good. Thanks guys!! |

Pasture truck generally may look good but are very very rusted underneath. If it has a title its maybe worth the price, no title its a $500- 800 truck.

If it's that solid and has a good title I'd say it's worth $1500.

It does have a title... and I'll have to take a closer look for the rust.. I was thinking of offering $1000 if he says yes, great, if not, maybe next time.

Re: Help please! Value on a 54' truck
1500 sounds fair to me. There are some guys out there who think these old trucks are worth an absolute fortune no matter what shape they are in though. Go out with 1500 in your pocket in nice crisp 100's and make the offer telling him that you will give that in cash then and there if he has the title in hand. There are too many BS artists and lookie loos who go out and look at rigs and make an offer and never show up or produce any money or want the seller to hold the rig until they come up with the cash.

I know which one as I thought about offering $1000 if the rust isn't bad. Check it out underneith real well though as the rust may be hidden.
