Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Today Rus came up and helped me by cutting some bad spots out on my truck. He brought his plasma cutter and it works amazing. He cut the lower kick panels, part of the passenger rocker and its patch, crossmember of the bed that goes the gas tank, and a bad spot on my rear crossmember for the wood bed.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

With the crossmember cut the bed floor was finally sitting where its supposed to. I also welded up the mirror holes too. more grinding needed on them. I also drilled the holes for the buckets.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

haha

I put the old worn out shoes on Choncho. I also picked up a new pinion seal that it needs. I need to also get the new 5/8 heater hoses changed. I don't want to do a lot of mechanical work after its painted.

I kinda like the way that old slotted wheel looks. Looks like y'all had a good day! I am glad. I think I will be settled in to the new house soon, which will be a huge plus, being closer to everyone.

Very nice work on the rust repair. I would love to own one of those plasma cutters.

Just the original light blue color. I thought about the 64 Impala metallic blue but changed my mind. But I love it on Impalas like Kevins.

Yes we did and Thanks. Rus is a motivator for sure. I would have probably sold the truck if I hadn't met him. I picked up some weld thru primer and 5/8'' heater hose. I'm taking the night off to spend time w/the wife and relax. Tomorrow night I'll be rust proofing and priming.

This truck is so awesome! No one deserves it more than you do Chuck! I can't wait to ride down the road in the passenger seat!

I drilled the holes for my sport mirrors. And put some rust neutralizer on some surface rust.

Did a little tonight. I finished up the top side welding on the hood. And I started the rocker patch.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

You know how when you think I'll work on this (whatever) tomorrow and then tomorrow comes and you don't even do that? Well that's what I did yesterday/today. I wound up starting on the gas door. I went to the junkyard and got a door from a Trailblazer. Left a gaping hole in it. I cut off the excess metal and made a template and used a jigsaw w/a shortened blade to cut the hole. Then welded it in after putting my panel clamps on. Heres some pics.
