New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Hi all,

I'm new here and new in the world of pick up's, just recently discoverd this forum and want to learn.

Bought myself a '60 Chevy pick up with what I think is the best patina mother nature could make. But with this awsome patina is allso a down sight and that is rust repair where rust became rotten!!

Lots of things to tackle before she's a driver, but nothing I (hope) can't handle. Think there will come some questions during the build, but I've seen that this is the right forum for questions

But enough of the talking:

And one with the first work in progress

Cheers Frank

Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Tackeled the first couple of jobs last few evenings.
Fixings rotten floor parts was my first priority

My dad (and my little girl)helped to get the old(for what was left) wood out of the bed

After that I cut out all metal strips from the bed, 2 are rotten but the rest is only rusty

Next job is finishing the welding on the cab, after that it's searching for a new beefy power source, truck came without engine and gearbox.
Tbh I bought it for the killer patina

Welcome to the forum

That looks like a decent truck to build. The floors don't look too bad.

Great looking truck. Kinda gives me a idea what mine would look like with the correct stepside bed on it.

Talking Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Been at it again today and some nights this last week. Rust repair wasn't all done yet. Got the cab finished and the hood and straightend out the front bumper.
This morning I saw a buddy of mine to for an engine and gearbox, he had lots of stuff but not a lot of stuff I wanted. Most engines had been lying there for ages by the look of it. But when done searching true his "wharehouse" he said why not buy a complete car and tear everything of you need and sell the body to the scrappers
So bought me a Caprice and will takeout the engine and gearbox and other **** I can use

Driver side allmost done

Passenger side needed some attention too

Hood allso needed some beefing up

Oeps 1

Oeps 2

Pizza box

All new ready to be welded in

Ik think the truck had a head on collision at one point in it's live!

But after some brute force we have a pretty much straight bumper
