It's door buying time.. suggestions?
I got a 72 blazer that I'm restoring, I am almost finished replacing the bed panels and now I've got to order 2 new doors and a cowl hood.. I see alot of options out there..just wondering if anyone has had success from one place over another.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

as an option... you can convert a 72 truck door into a Blazer door.... I had mine done that way... cut the frame and swap over the reinforcment latch plate..
As always, original parts fit better then aftermarket.... but check with local board vendors for quality service and parts. |

Here is the link to the thread that covers converting truck doors into blazer doors as mentioned by mcmlxix. You can find a good set of original truck doors much easier than blazer doors.

Re: It's door buying time.. suggestions?
Thanks for the info, The only original metal left on my Blazer at this point is the front left fender...New Rockers, New Bedsides, New hood, New tailgates..etc..etc.. so I think I'm gonna try the repop doors from Wes at Classic.. I've seen that their will be some modifications, but not alot of rust free doors here in South Florida.. and my bodyshop guy says he can make it happen..and happen well..so with the amount of new metal that's on the body..there is gonna have to be a ton of adjustments... thanks for the suggestions. hope I don't regret this in a few weeks.

lol... sorry.. yes they did... They are really well made...I wouldn't say they are drop in replacement...but the holes are pretty close...I haven't gotten all the hardware on yet..but as far as fit and feel...looks solid so far.

Re: It's door buying time.. suggestions?
The front bottom corners of my repop doors were very weak. No gusseting in the sheet metal to keep them straight. I'll be welding in gussets to strengthen them up, then adding filler to get rid of the inner door outline on the outer skin. They also did not have the reinforcement sheet metal at the latch assy. Not real happy with mine.

Re: It's door buying time.. suggestions?
Did you check if the doors fit.
I bought repro doors for my Jimmy and I couldn`t get a gap between the door and bedside. They are formed a little different around the hinge mounting area which is why they wouldnt fit.

Re: It's door buying time.. suggestions?
All the body adjustments for mine are being done over the next two weeks...It's a body shop that specializes in muscle cars...so I haven't really heard about any major problems yet... but I'm sure I will know soon.. but I will make sure to ask how it's fitting..etc..
