Front Wheel Clearance
Ok, I've got a 69 chassis, 85 front crossmember with McGaughy's 2.5 drop spindles. I was going to use the 85 15" rallyes for temporary rollers but when I put them on I'm so close to the tie rod the wheel weight hits. Back spacing appears to be 4.25. Am I missing something? I did a search and people on here seem to be using the same combo so I'm stumped. I've got a pic but I've got to upload it.

Re: Front Wheel Clearance
Well, I guess I missed the rally wheel FAQ. Sorry, my bad. I guess I'll use some spacers for now. They are only temporary.

Re: Front Wheel Clearance
Or you can knock off the weights and use stick on weights. That's what I had to do with the 15x7s on my 70.

Re: Front Wheel Clearance
I'd really like to run these for awhile. Even without weights, there's only about a 1/16" clearance on the tie rod. I'm afraid ther would be enough flex to rub sometimes. If I space them 1/4" do you think I would run into fender rub?
Edit: They are 15 X 8.

You can shave a little off the steering to. Shouldn't take a lot just enough to clear them.

Re: Front Wheel Clearance
That may be the answer, if I can find some. Right side is actually a little worse than the left. I'll go with some spacers until I get to the fenders and see what happens there.

Re: Front Wheel Clearance
Somehow I didn't notice, but I discovered that I had 2 7" wheels an 2 8" wheels. These wheels were on an 85 donor truck I used. Don't know why there were 2 different sizes on that truck, it was completely stock. Dumb luck I guess. Still pretty tight in the tie rod but no rub.

Re: Front Wheel Clearance
A local member here just had the exact same problem. He had a bad vibration. His wheel weights were rubbed down from hitting and became unbalanced. He took his wheels and had them balanced using the stick on weights on the back/inside of the wheel (like they use on modern wheels).
