Direct swap front axle? K10

I have a 67 K10 that I am wanting to swap out the front axles to convert it to disc as well as get rid of the nasty knuckles. What are you guys using as a direct swap?

Use a later model D44 or 10 bolt, 71-87 will work for you. I think 78 was the year they went to 10 bolt fronts in 1/2 tons, but that line was fuzzy. 69 was the first year for open knuckle 44s in K5s, trucks got them in 70 (again, fuzzy line, using up old stock on the line) 71 they introduced discs.

In case you didn't know - I'm sure you do if you are contemplating such a swap but more for others reading this that don't know - you need to match the gears in the rear end in addition to finding one that fits.

Yeah Im aware.. most of the time when you buy a front axle people basically make you take the rear with it from my experience. Im just looking for direct swap.

Thanks for the input

Re: Direct swap front axle? K10

I swapped a 1979 K10 D44 in to my K10. I was able to pull the gears from the 67 and put them in the 79. I really liked this axle because it gets rid of the oil bathed U-joint, and it has disc breaks. you will need the part that clamps down on the leaf springs from the top as i believe the u bolts are different sizes.

also the the trucks are cheap and lots of parts work on both. My truck has/had several parts (engine, axle, front brakes, rear brake springs, rubber brake lines, proportioning valve, heater blower, fuel pickup(I have a relocated tank).
