Thought id show you guys whats on with the 68'
I took the bed off last week and wow it was a snap! Six bolts haha. Well the reason im writing this up is im just too stoked on the progress and maybe could help someone out with any questions. Im in the process of doing a 5in drop and everything to go with it. Since CPP is so close (30miles haha) ive been taking advantage of it quite often. All in with the rear disk brake swap and lowering im around nine bills into it so far and i havent even picked up the Wilwoods yet This is just the progress of today, ive mangaed to get the c-notch in and im waiting to have it all bolted in before i cut up the other side. Freakin' cutting torch ran out of gas. ill keep this thread posted. Im spraying the POR 15 later this week !

If you have any more purchases to make with CPP wait until the Pomona swap meet. They have a booth and give killer discounts on their stuff. If they don't have it there, you pay for it and pick it up at the warehouse.
I've saved ~$800 doing this. And yes, being so close helps with shipping charges |

Would it be a good idea to weld the C-notchs in? Lay a coat of POR15 underneath and then weld it completely in? I figure it will stay this way for the rest of the trucks life so why not make it permanent.

i bought all cpp stuff, and i bought it off ebay, with all the free freight it was several hundred dollars cheaper than their "kits".

Re: Thought id show you guys whats on with the 68'
All of the parts that have been bought for this truck have been purchased throughout a couple of months, CPP's drop packages are just filled with some things I don't need/want. As of now this is how far i've come. POR15 (sprayed/not brushed on) painted frame. Looks really great and would definitely recommend it!! The trailing arms and the C-notches got the same treatment. For future reference i would highly, highly suggest picking up a sand/soda blaster. The grinder with an assortment of wire wheels works great but i was at it for 10+ hours grinding the grim off. NEVER AGAIN

Can por 15 be brushed on also? What mods do you gotta do to the bed to fit it over the tank?

Do you use the POR15 topcoat on top of the regular stuff? I have, with some success and its supposed to eliminate the UV breakdown that POR15 is susceptable to.
Looks good- nice job on the set up. S

Re: Thought id show you guys whats on with the 68'
I just sprayed the POR15 straight out of the can. I used a brush and painted the c-notch with it and it looked like crap. So I just bought a cheapo harbor freight paint gun for 25 bucks and sprayed it. Looks damn fine, I can see my reflection

Got some new wheels to put on the truck, $141 a pop! good deal I would say. These procomp rims are super light. Its gonna give it a whole new look now. Tomorrow the rear end is being rebuilt and hanged
