sound deadener question

Ok my question is when laying the deadener on the fire wall.Do you remove the card board cover.mine is original and not in bad shape.Will it come off ok without destroying it.How did you guys go about laying it on the fire wall.Thanks to all.

You may be able to save the cardboard but those rubber fasteners can be a bear to get out without breaking them. If you can get a helper to push the rubber from under the hood while you pull you may be able to save them. There is at least one you can't access the back side left of the steering column.

From my research not very many repop companies reproduce these out of rubber but I did find THESE at site vender GMC Paul.
This is the one you want:

There are a bunch of plastic aftermarket ones.

They don't work worth a flip in my opinion. Good luck

I bought a new kit and fasteners from LMC. Clips did not fit at all, way too big. I found something close locally at NAPA that worked out. I put sound deadener under the cardboard.Dave
