Pretty cool, except for the motor. I'm on a Ford truck forum because of the F100 I own and even a lot of Ford guys don't care for the 7.3.

ive always heard good things and had great luck with the 7.3l powerstroke i had one with over 300thousand on it when it was sold and the 6.0 I had blew the head gaskets twice once with factory studs and once with arp studs now I have three 5.9l cummins and they are going strong no problems. Interesting truck not really my cup of tea but definitely different would make a cool tailgate rig

Speaking just for me, I'm "ugh" on the huge rims/ultra low profile tires & stacks (on ANYthing) but I'm "UGH!!!" On a Ford engine in a Chevy.
Yes, fully aware of the millions of Fords that have SBC's in them. I'm not a Ford guy by any means but I don't like that much either. PS: I've always heard great thing about the 7.3's too. And I own an '08 Chevy 3500 crew 4x4 Dually Duramax.

I dig it. I would drive it but I would also get it about 12" lower.
As for the 7.3, I am not sure who you are talking to, but you should go to a diesel forum and see what people think. Its actually probably the most desirable of the ford diesels. it may not be the most powerful, but its built like a tank. I own a 7.3 and it would take a small fortune to get it out of my hands. |

That looks like and IDI 7.3 non-turbo. They are a toad but run for ever. I have a 96 7.3 powerstroke dually with 315K miles on it. Beat it to death every day back and forth to work. Put Fuel in it and oil(leaks out all over the place) every couple weeks.....runs like a champ. Gets 19 mpg all the time.....

I'm the Chevy diesel guy but always heard the 7.3 has a VERY stout number of head bolts. The later Ford diesels do not, is that what you Ford diesel guys have found?

it is rare that a ford motor makes it into a chevy anything. funny thing is i went to detroit autorama last night, most of the custom fords there had sbc motors in them. the guy with me was a die hard ford man; he just shook his head every time he saw a chevy powered ford.
as for autorama? same cars every year, maybe 10% new cars from last year. extreme autorama in the basement is getting to be more and more like upstairs with shiny cars

My guess is that that truck is actually sitting on a Ford Dualie chassis after a frame swap and cab stretch.
It would make one heck of a tow rig for a guy' Bonneville race truck or drag truck for sure. Dan I didn't actually notice the rims until you mentioned them but Yuppers, I'd like it better with real dualie truck rims and tires that would give a decent ride. The 17's on my Caddy ride rough enough for me and they are stock rims.

There might be a 58-59 crew cab dually sitting on my 96 7.3 chassis at some point.....collecting parts right now. I know most Chevy guys will hate its a ford under it but I can't afford a Duramax chassis for under it. I keep watching for one but they all go for big bucks.

It it has an 7.3 Ford Power Stroke engine that came from about mid 90's to 2010 it is actually a Navistar/International engine I believe. Not a GM engine but maybe more satisfactory to some people knowing that it's not actually a Ford motor.

I agree, Russell.
The idea of a Cornbinder power plant has more appeal than the thought of putting a Ford Diesel in yer GM truck. But, c'mon guys....50K....? It's still a beauty, but I could find a better way to spend my fifty. It may be the angle or the camera....but it looks like "rattle-can" blending on the rear fender work. And the tail-gate kind'a looks rough. But....still is a bunch of work and a real good lookin project. c-man95, Keep us informed if you happen to see anything interesting as far as this fella selling that truck for anything close to what he's thinkin'. Also....anyone who would like to translate the comments on his CL add., I would appreciate it. I'm challenged when it comes to anything but street English. Interesting footnote...: His allegiance is hangin from his rear spring shackle. No disrespect intended, but I would make sure not to be using a blue snot rag when I showed up to test drive that one.
