Compressor Question - Firestone / Air Ride Technologies or ???

I'm putting my system back together and was wondering if anyone had any info on the compressor I have.
It says Firestone Model No: 24-3582-9260 and also has an air ride technologies sticker on it. I can't find any data otherwise as far as size. My tank is a 3 gallon tank and I seem to recall it took forever to fill and have the compressor shut off.
Anyone have any idea if this is a decent compressor? Mount in any position? Am I better of with another compressor?

Without seeing the rest, it seems to be the Thomas compressor. If so, that will be ok for a 3 gallon, but wouldn't go larger than that. Thomas makes a great compressor, but just underpowered in my opinion for air ride. Mounting on its side or upright will be Ok, but try and avoid upside down. You can always add a VIAIR to the system to speed things up, and have then work together. I would take a look at a 400C.

Thanks for the quick reply. This one worked but it seemed like it would just run forever. Do the one you sell include the pressure switch too? Does the braided line go right to the tank? I mounted my tank where the spare tire would go and was thinking I would mount the compressor back there too. Is that area clean/dry enough or should I put it up in the engine compartment? I'm planning on putting all of my valves in the engine compartment area. I'll be running an older ride pro 4-way set up.

Most the VIAIR dual packs will include a pressure switch and relays, but not single compressors. The PS runs $16. The VIAIR does come with a braided leader hose and check valve, as well as the parts to remote mount the intake. The compressors are very well sealed up against the elements. If you will be driving in the rain, then I would suggest remote mounting the intake.... Other than that, you should be Ok there.

What's the difference between the 400 and the 450? I've seen the 450 advertised quite a bit.

The 450C is a 100% duty cycle compressor, so it can essentially run without resting. The trade off, is it will run slower so it generates less heat allowing it's long run time. The 400C runs faster, creating more heat, thus needing to rest eventually to cool down.

The 400C can run for about 20-25 minutes before resting, which will be plenty of time to fill the tank multiple times. I prefer the 400C due to it's speed, and not necessarily needing the duty of the 450C. Plus, you save a few $$.

Awesome info. Seems like everyone talks about the 450. But I don't think I need it.
