Dropped Spindles - 3-3/4" Backspacing 15" Wheels
I know the topic has been discussed a good bit, but I have never seen a definitive answer for 3-3/4" backspacing.
I have 15"x8.5" American Racing 200s wheels. Looking to install drop spindles and I'm hoping I won't have to trim the lower control arm. I've seen some people say anything under 4" backspacing was ok. I've also seen people say 3.5" is max. Anybody ever tried 3.75" backspacing 15" wheels? Any spindles any better than the new CPP CP4S3? |

My spindles should arrive this week and my wheels are 15x8.5 with 3.5backspacing. So if your not in a hurry ill let you know by the end of the week.

Sounds good. I've replied to your other thread so I will see the update if you post on this thread or the other. I know the backspacing is the make or break, but 8.5" and 3.5" bs should give a pretty good idea. I really just want to lower the front a small amount and not give up any spring height

They'll fit fine. I had 15x8's on mine with 3.75" bs when I first lowered it. No issues.

I had American Racing Hopsters. This pic is with 15x8 on all corners with 255/60/15 F 275/60/15 R on a 3.5/5 drop.

You shouldn't have any rubbing issues with 3-3/4 BS. I had 2.5" CPP spindles with 15x10" with 4" BS...close but no rubbing on the spindle. I changed to 15x6.5 rally's with 4" BS....no rubbing. The 4.25" BS on a 15" wheel will not work without some grinding where the tie rod connects and possibly the LCA.

I run 8x15 rally's all four corners, 3.5 drop up front w/2.5 drop spindles & 4" lowering springs out back...275/R60-15 BFG's and 4-3/4" back spacing all four... The issues were the tire's up front when the 2" drop springs didn't allow enough clearance for the tires in turns and bumps...I raised her back up 1" by reinstalling the factory coils with 1/2 coil cut off...72 C-10 LWB 350/350tb factory 5x5's all around..."just sayin"

Well I'm convinced. I think I am going to buy a set of spindles and give it a try. I do wonder if a stock height spring vs a dropped spring makes a difference on clearance for the LCA. My thinking is that since you guys are running a cut or lowering spring that the upper and lower control arms are "closer" therefore allowing more clearance? Idk. Gonna try some spindles. Probably ECE. Worst case I have to cut 1/2 coil to make it all fit.
