Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Back on track guys, work keeps getting in the way

First thing what was on my "to do"list was removing the gastank, don't get me wrong I'm a petrol head but don't wanna smell it all day long!

From the start of the build I wanted a new'ish engine in there, was looking for engine and gearbox but found a beautifull donor car with low mileage.

And it was "dead" cheap!!

So last saturday was the day of heart surgery, me and my buddy was at it and by lunch she was out, all wires and sensors still in tact!! I'm gonna run the EFI in the old girl

And when buying a complete car you have the benefit of getting ALL of the car, so masterbrake cilinder out, washer botlle, battery, radiator, wiper motor, seats, stereo with sat nav!! brakes, rearaxle tyres....the lot!!

And sunday we made it cleaning the front end day...

So this is where I'm at , coming saturday I hope we can start lifting the V8 in the hole and start making engine and gearbox mounts.

To be continued!

Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

You're making some nice progress

Are you not going to use a rubber cushioned engine mount?

Those are interesting looking tail lights. What are they from?

Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Thnx Guys, with summer coming up I want it to be on the road...
Nah no need for rubber cushioned mounts me thinks, only gonna do the odd mile arround town.

Tail lights are 1962 Chrysler Imperial Crown's , i wanted something differenet and mega cool...
Made some brackets

painted them

And than patina'ed them to match the truck's patina!!

Engine is in tha hole,YES!! Me and my little helper had a good afternoon

Getting all the neccesary parts on there..

fabbin an exhaust from all different tubes and muffelers I have laying arround

That's all for this week

Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Moved on a bit since last update this summer! Not much but hey it's getting there.
So engine was in, needed button up and get the front end on and all loose ends done.

Friend of mine changed brake set up on his wagon and I grabbed his brake disc kit complete with dropped spindles

Enough parts to get going. Rubbers going in!

Next on the "to do" list was my worst nightmare WIRING the lot!! But looking on the net I saw lots of kits so orderd me one

So let get in on

Lots of late nights and it's still not done

Awsome pic from a friend of my DeSoto during our Old Style weekend foxwolde 2014

Refurbished my dash and with "new" engine I tought I could set the mile counter on ooooo miles LOL

Last but not least my ignition was shot, so I looked in my parts shed and found a beauty from my Subaru

Hopefully it will run and drive before it's getting cold

You've got a big leg up on me franky. I just got mine in the shop the other day. Working on original brake system now. I would like to upgrade at some point.

Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Thnx Guys,

It is indeed hard to get the parts overhere especially for the '60 model,so I imported a lot from the US! Taillights are my favorite too

TBH jnovotny mine is far from done, and when I'm done I need to do a special tech inspection before the truck can go on the Dutch roads.

Re: New project, '60 Chevy pick up!!

Been a long time I updated.........work got in the way

Got some done, not as much as I hoped for. Was hoping to drive the truck THIS year...

Things that are done are the gas tank, old tank I cleaned up

Installed it in the rear together with pump and filter

Only need to run the feed and return line now.

And I made a new filler cap in the rear fender. It's from a old army jerrycan

The rest of the jerrycan was used for my "new" weld cart

And finished up the cooling system...

So she is finaly on her wheels And hauling junk

Last but not least Merry Christmas you all

Sure hope next update will be of a running truck!!
