Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
Just read a post from a gentleman who started his truck project with the intent of only doing a couple of things to make his project a driver. Now here he is several months later in the process of a beautiful frame off restoration.
I can relate...I have this "disease" as well. I had the same initial intentions now here I am a year and a half later doing a full-blown restoration as well. Are he and I alone? How about a cry (and a few stories) from our fellow forum members who are suffering from this same dreaded Obsessive Compulsive Truck Disorder...OCTD. Maybe the big pharmaceuticals should prescribe a remedy...you think? Share your stories... Tom

No, I don't have it. But everyone in my family says I do! It's a good thing I'm not in denial either!

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
I bought a pretty nice truck in December needing a motor. I just happened to have a good used one. Next thing I know it is getting a new crate engine, a fresh 700r4, all new bumpers and grill (chrome), and a host of other improvements while I was just fixing the brakes and putting in the engine.

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
I've been working really hard to keep myself on track and not do this. I'm making myself finish one part completely before tearing another part of the truck apart. It might be a bit slower this way, but I'm less likely to get overwhelmed by having it in pieces seemingly forever and giving up.

I'm juggling 2 different big block builds right now on two different 63's....so I think I've definitely got it.

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
I have it and passed it on to my 16 yr old son. My 12 yr old son is showing signs of it too. It is driving my wife insane!
Got to love this hobby!

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
Absolutely. My plan was repaint the interior, new floorboards, and new windows with seals. I now have a freshly painted frame sitting on jackstands. Sometimes i look at all the parts scattered through the garage and think it use to be a running driving truck. Will it ever be again?

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
yup. I have 2 '64 C10 stepsides in process and a '55 GMC 3/4 ton stepside that just got painted. And I keep looking at my '38 Dodge business coupe and wondering what kind of truck I could trade it for. I think I want to try a heavier COE truck someday too now.

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
Original intent was to just make my 66 road worthy..now I'm hopping up the 6 banger..adding chrome..and doing a frame off. And am wanting to do the same to my donor truck. LOL! I need a remedy quick!

Re: Are You Suffering from OCTD too???
Disassembled mine 9 years ago this month to fix the rust and drive it in primer - ended up just like everyone elses. I just bought ( a couple months ago ) a 68, doing one small project at a time so I can drive/enjoy it. It's actually my daily driver so it can't be apart longer than a day or two, much more fun. Went for my first sunday drive last sunday. Nice warm day. The best part was being able to drive with the windows down so I could yell at the bicyclists who ran the stop signs. lol.
Don't know if this has anything to do with octd, it's what came to mind when I read the other posts, but I do have 2 chevelles and a nova in many many pieces.
