Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
slightly older thread, but i want to know if there is any progress on the sway bar? i just lowered my 61 with 2.5 spindles and cranked down torsion bars. i cant take a turn at any form of quick speed because of all the body roll and lowered height lol. PM me if i can purchase a sway bar anytime soon. thanks!

Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
the 63-66 sway bars will not fit the 60-62 trucks. I don't know if there are other options available or not.
I've heard you can take a later model sway bar off of the 73-80 trucks but I'm not sure. If any one knows of other options please let me know as I am getting ready to put a sway bar onto my 61 and do not really want to "reinvent" the wheel if this has already been done by others with the 60-62 frames... Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
Finally heard from my manufacturer on Thursday, and they're sending me the second prototype to fit, and then I should be able to place my order for all of them.
This is EXACTLY why I wouldn't take pre-orders. I HATE relying on other people for things! Thanks for your patience everyone. -Brad

Checking in to see if there are any updates, and if Brad54 is taking any orders yet? Would love to have this on my '62 C20.
Anyone know what the selling price will be?

Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
I used the brackets that came with the kit from CPP. 2 brackets that clamped the bushings to the frame. I had to drill my own holes in the frame for them. On the ends that attach to the lower control arms I drilled a hole and used the long bolts with the bushings that go around the outside of the bolt. It is installed on the front of the cross member so there is no interference with the torsion bars. I think CPP has a installation diagram on there web sight.

Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
Just a little add on from a board newbie..... In the 80's, I had a '60 C10 that had a sway bar on it from a '70-'80's Chev truck. I think it was off a 4WD, but if memory serves correctly, the 2WD's are the same. When mounted, it bolted to under the radiator on the frame up front, and on the under side of the lower A-arms at the rear. Holes would have to be drilled, but it was a real clean, simple install, and worked great. I believe there are 2 thickness available (1' and 1 1/8"). I'll be looking for one for my new truck soon myself. Anyway, hope it helps someone....

Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
Follow up on using later model sway bars on a 60-62.... Yesterday, I mounted one that was taken off a 67 to my stock height 60 stepper. Used the frame brackets that compensate for the rise in the frame rail, bolted 8.5" in from the front bumper, and the rear is bolted to the front side bottom of the A-arm. Nice and clean, very solid. Only downside for some might be the loss in clearance under the A-arm (depth of the urethane bushing and bracket). Night and day difference driving (and I still have 50 year old shocks, though Bilsteins on the way). This sway bar is the factory type that just runs the bar through the bushing. It doesn't used any loop ends or links. Too dark for pics when I finished, but I'll get some today. Anyway, just FWIW....

Re: Sway bars for '60-62: I DID IT!! Woo-Hoo!
Well, shortly after doing that original post, a deer totaled the front of my Suburban, which I was using as a test mule.
I've put the word out a couple times looking for people who could test the second prototype, but haven't been able to find anyone who could put a lot of miles on it in a short period of time... one guy actually wanted to keep the sway bar AND have me pay him to install it on his truck. I'm getting my Suburban from my friend's pasture this week, and will be putting it back on the road in primer... again. (I'd hoped to have the body work done and have it painted, then restore the interior, etc. but that's not in the cards right now). Once I get it back on the road, I'll throw the second prototype under it, and should be able to check that everything clears and fits as it should, and then have the first batch made. So the march slowly goes forward on something that was a matter of months from being completed, over two years ago. -Brad
