Power Steering divorced reservoir?
Ok so I've deleted my AC system (compressor/lines only removed at this point) because it didn't work (and isn't on my list of immediate fixes), but I'm still left with the ugly ass bracket because it holds up the reservoir for my power steering pump. Anyone got suggestions on where to move the reservoir or a bracket that won't be as ugly as the huge AC bracket?
It's on a 454, reservoir is Drivers side above the power steering pump.

Re: Power Steering divorced reservoir?
Start hitting the salvages for this pump and bracket from late 70s trucks and vans

Re: Power Steering divorced reservoir?
You might be able to get a reservoir w/hydro return from a GMT-400 (88-98(02)) bodystyle and swap your pump into it. It is a normal dipstick top, not the remote can one. Would allow you to use the brackets posted above.
The only thing I'm not sure about are the stud locations on the back. I don't *think* they're in different places. I can post a pic of a GMT-400 style one in a day or so. Edit: You might be able to just swap the whole thing, if you find one with a good pump. I think that by '86 your lines are metric fittings like the GMT-400 is.

Re: Power Steering divorced reservoir?
That would be awesome. I know my local oriellys has my pump, so if they have the other one it'd be easier to match up mounting n stuff.
Thx :-) -Chris

Tho I did have a thought... alot of them have one pressure and two return lines. That being said would it be safe (and with my brakes in the mix here safety isn't an option) to put a T splitter fitting on the pressure side and just run both lines off of one pressure hose? The two returns (one each from gearbox and brake booster) would be no problem at all? Anyone? -Chris

Re: Power Steering divorced reservoir?
All pumps have ONE pressure out, and either one threaded return with or without the higher barbed return from the hydroboost.
