Few random questions
1967 C50 just FYI
Just a few random questions: 1) What all is involved in replacing the glass of a drivers door window wing. The metal is fine, but the glass is missing. 2) Anyone have info on the spare tire carrier for a C50, it sits below the frame at the rear of the truck. What's left of it is twisted to hell, and I can't visualize what it used to look like. Want to salvage what's left. Can't seem to find one single picture of one, or anything in the PDF manuals I have 3) Did these trucks come with Reversing lights from the factory? 4) What is the stock amperage on the alternators? If I'm able to get this thing running and moving, I'm interested in changing to an electric cooling fan setup mostly to save gas, but also help on power. Would like to know if my alt is up to the task of running a modern cooling fan setup that are known for pulling serious amps. Thank you very much. |

Re: Few random questions
1. Glass is easy, heat the frame with propane torch by moving the flame QUICKLY across the frame. Pry the old glass out gently using screw driver or ( I used paint sticks that I cut down). LMC has the rubber gasket for the seal (cheap) push seal into frame (a little soap) push glass into frame, the gasket will move and you will have to do it a couple of times but it is not that hard.
2. No clue, My C50 does not have any carrier 3. Neither one of my C50's had them due to on was a box and one a flatbed 4. I would say change it to a newer 100 amp

Re: Few random questions
I believe the Back-up Light (or Lights) were an Option.
My '72 GMC 9500 20 Ft Flatbed had one small round light in the center. Bill

Re: Few random questions
Same style mine had, although mine was a dump and it had the lights on a cross bar from frame rail to frame rail. Two Tail/Stop Lights kind of close together (also like the style above) with the Back-up in the center.

Re: Few random questions
Awesome, that answered all my questions. And now I see what's wrong with my spare tire carrier, the part I have is only the front half--albeit twisted and mangled. I'm completely missing the back part.
Reverse lights, yep, looks like my truck hasn't got 'em. About the alternator, if I install a 100amp version, will I need to upgrade any wiring or am I OK? Thank you very much. |

Re: Few random questions
Funny question, my truck also has the HD radiator, does it take the same cap as a normal radiator in a C10? Thank you
