Dad gave me a great socket set!

I love this thing! My dad gave it to me today, never used. SAE and metric...a Craftsman set.

cool. I remember when my dad gave me my first set of craftsman tools almost 50 years ago and I still have all most all of that set.

X2! - I still have 99% of the craftsman tool set my dad gave me 36 years ago. I passed it on and gave both my sons craftsman tool sets on their 16th birthdays.

Re: Dad gave me a great socket set!

I have a set of Craftsman tools that I bought new in 1977. Last week, I had to take a 1/2-inch ratchet from that set apart for the very first time.

Re: Dad gave me a great socket set!

God bless him and I hope he does well in the sport.

It is easier to hire work done but if you aren't there watching them the whole time, you can get screwed. Even if you are there watching them you can still get shafted.

When I can, I prefer to do the work myself. With my rental business, I am blessed with family and friends who are pros or downright wizards!

Even if I was a rich fellow, I'd still do my own work as much as possible. It suits my OCD and "desire for control" personality. Probably the same reason I like manual transmissions over automatics so much.
