Vacuum Gauge Installation
I'm trying to install a vacuum gauge and need photos or a description of how the hose runs from back of the manifold into the cab. I know it would have originally been a steel line (i'll be installing a hose), but where does it penetrate the firewall? An existing grommet or new hole?
Seems I saw a write up at one time detailing the installation, but I've searched and can't come up with anything.

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
This thread may help you some. There is a grommet in the firewall behind the distributor toward the drivers side and wires and the oil pressure gauge line goes through it. That is where I am going to run mine through.

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
Where are you going to get your vacuum from, the intake manifold?

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
I had single tree fitting in my intake and ordered the one in the attachment which should make for a clean installation. I plan to use steel under the hood and once through the firewall use rubber hose under the dash.

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
Ref. the part pictured in post #6,
If I get one of those would it be possible to hook it into the carb intake on my inline 6 where there is an angled "plug screw" then directly to the VAC gauge? Or does this VAC gauge HAVE to be "T"ed into everything?

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
I dont see why you couldn't go from the fitting to the vacum gauge. The fiting in picture 6 is from my BB intake manifold.

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
Since I posted this earlier today I have since hooked up the VAC gauge to a nozzle (that was plugged with a rubber cap) on the bottom front of my carb's base. The VAC gauge works now, but I hope this is an OK place to attach this. It seems everyone uses the "T" method to install these.

Re: Vacuum Gauge Installation
Just make sure you use the bottom feeder of the carb so you get your reading for engine vaccum and not the carb vaccum.
I used hose all the way and it works great! The TRU 7 gauges.
