Thanks! That's two coats of Rustoleum Hammered Silver, thinned 15% with Xylene with a little acrylic enamel hardener added. Shot through a typical siphon-feed gun over one solid coat of Rustoleum primer (which was thinned 10% with Mineral Spirits plus a little hardener, IIRC).

We set the cab back upright last night. Time to work on the roof, back wall, interior floor, interior firewall, dash...

Shot the primer. I bit of sanding ahead of me and then planning to shoot the white on the lower portion of the dash coves, steering column and instrument cluster bezel tomorrow.

Thanks to mate Martin, even Nicola is impressed with your negotiation skills in getting the bumper at the sort of money that suits my budget.

Again, just to put it into perspective for the Americans on here.... who pay local prices.

Once we land an item it is a whole load dearer than it would be in the USA.
So a $179.99 ($180.00 in my book) plus $30.00 penalty for it's size, bumper ultimately costs us closer to $500.00 once freight and import duties at 24.5% are added. Plus we often have to fetch items from shipping agents 30-50 miles away or pay further courier costs.

Paying $85.00 or £50.00 for this bumper, in spite of the end being bent in by about 40mm is worth the risk, as it will be better than what I have fitted right now.



So before committing to buying, I got to to remove the existing bumper.



And with Martin's help as it's a heavy bit of steel, and I did not want to scratch it we tried fitting it to see just how badly 40mm put it out of line.

Good side



Bad side...... could not even get it to line up with the bolt holes.



Looks like a bit of pressure and force will be in order to get the end bent out to slide into position.

took my 65 i just laid color on to its first show today, last picture is how the truck used to be/look 2 weeks ago. first 4 are as it is now. its like a totally different truck. all in all it was a good day lots of pretty cars/truck also saw a 62 BBW, 64,65, and a 63 at the show. i think i had the only factory stance there.. kind of comical -p.s. sorry for the horrible cell phone pictures.

Well got the 283 done. Bored .030, new pistons, rods, ground crank 10/10, new RV cam, cam bearings, rod and main bearings, new oil pump, new valves, new hardened seats, re-surfaced heads, re-surfaced exhaust ports, re-surfaced exhaust manifolds. Painted the bell housing and inspection plate. She should be like a new engine. Just wish I was ready to put her back in.........afraid that will be a few months down the road.

Pressure washed the entire frame, except for under the cab. Pressure washed all the fenders and panels. Have started grinding the paint off the inner fenders. Been grinding all the under coat off the wheel side of the inner fender. Who ever made the under coat that was on it made a pretty good product. Every where there was undercoating the fender was in perfect condition. Was just a bummer getting it off....

Sunday Rian popped over as I needed a push with the truck and a hand to put my new front screen somewhere safe . But as usual when he pops over a small job becomes a lot bigger job . I was going to put the glass in my garage on the shelf but there wasn't enough room for it . So Rian suggested making a shelf in the car port . So off to the local diy store to purchase the timber needed .


We then made a shelf to put the screen onto for safe keeping




Then we made a second set of supports to put the screen up higher leaving the large shelf for storage



Once this was all finished we then could get on with the truck




After getting the screen safe myself and Rian stripped some more off the truck





As usual my dogs want to help



Just to show how much room I have to work in



Thats both sides stripped and pushed back under cover



Once the truck was put away and Rian had gone home . I decided to finish of the car port to keep the rain out at the shelf end . I had some of the roof material left so I used it to block in above the fence panels

Been messing with this and that and other things.

Finished putting the gas tank under the bed, but looks like I missed something as I see a spot of fresh gasoline on the driveway. Installed the fuel access door.

Finished installing the big back window.

re did the latching mechanism for the tail gate, added hidden latches and cables.

Finished frenching the tail lights and wired the LED tag lights.

Flipped the front bumper over top to bottom and welded hidden studs on so now it's wider on top and are no bolt tops sticking out anywhere.

This thing started out as a project for my son and I to work together on but that didn't last long.....not too sure I'll spend much more time with it since he isn't involved now.

Worked on Speedometer. Thought replacing the cable would get me back spinning again. Turns out The drive gear in the tranny seems to have disappeared

So next weekend I'll see about pulling the tail shaft cover and replacing it. For some unknown and very lucky reason I happen to have the gear I need and the one from the speedometer cable to make it accurate for the 275/60 tires too.

felt like throwing up when i saw this, not to hate or advertise. but come on when does the madness stop ive spent alot of money on stuff this is way over the top and it needs to end. no one with a small budget can afford this stuff!!!!

put a set of helper springs on today. need to pick up 2 more u bolts for the frame. now i can put whatever i want in the back . also took a saweet picture of the truck as the sun set.

Yes it's tight but only because I wanted to come over more to get the drivers door fully open to remove it . When I look at the garages in some of the threads it makes my very jelious . But you work with what you have and get on with it .

I guess to put it into perspective for Shortbox and others, Martin has about 12 inches or 300mm total spare between the truck and his walls under the roof.
Its just one of those things people in England often have to deal with when building.

This also means that every time you start work you unpack tools, parts etc and pull or push the truck into open space and then pack it all away again to avoid rain or loss of tools parts etc.
At least my garage now is big enough to leave some jobs half done before going back.

Typical tollerances in the UK to get stuff down side alleys or driveways.

This was a car trailer with my wife's then Ford 100E on the back, delivering to our new home in September 2010

Nothing like a tight fit to make things interesting.

I only drove my truck down the drive head first once, never again..... I now reverse it down with a prayer along the way.
