help question
back in 1972 did the blazer come with a top post or side post battery .when you look over the grill is the pos on the right or left thanks mark

I didn't think side post existed back then. Anything that old always has top posts. And positive is usually on left. But anything can be changed. Ground should be on the engine block and positive direct to the starter from pisitive side of battery. Make sure where it is hooked up.

I THINK pos must be on the right, because there is a clip for the cable to run to the starter...but i could be wrong

Either way need to hook up to battery correct whatever orientation of the wires. Positive to the starter and negative to ground bolt on the engine. Mine is bolted to the alternator mounting bracket.

I read another site that said side post batteries weren't available until 72. On that bulletin 80% of pontiacs and some light trucks used them in 71. So it's pissible became standard in 72 then. I've never seen a truck older than mid 80s with anything but too posts though. Guess its cheaper that way or else most wouldn't have been converted back to the older style.
