1970-1972 Cab differences?
Can anyone tell me the major differences between the 70, 71, and 72 cabs? Was it 71, and 72 that they changed the gas pedal? Was 72 the only year that had the screw up by the vent window on the door? Thanks

71-72 had the different gas pedal. (didn't mount to the floor) 72 was first year for rear view mirror on windshield. 72 doors had the screw hole inside up by wing window.

Also, a 71 cab has a unique stamping where the cab rear view mirror mounts above windshield.

I noticed the 71 has what I will call a plastic air vent below the driver's door striker plate.

That vent is a 72 thing, posibly a real late 71, but I have only seen them in 72's. It helps with better air flow through the cab. It allows doors to be shut with out really slamming them. In 5 or 10 years when the rockers rust off or a hole develops in the floor it really doesn't do anything anymore.

My 71 cheyenne has the vents in the door jambs. When did the interior light switch show up in the door jamb? Or was it avalaible on the top-of-the-line trucks?

Yup, although it came in the CST trucks (and later cheyennes) as part of the package.

The pillar vents are 71-72 things, they go in conjuction with the eec fuel system, 71 and 72 cabs will also have two extra holes in the floor near the gas and there will be lines running half way up the pillar behind the passenger door.
