Lowering Rear Leaf Springs

New to the forum but have watched it closely. I have a 77 C10 step side with leaf springs in the rear. If I want to lower it (rear) can I simply remove a spring? The spring pack consists of four springs...which one would I remove? Three of the springs are elliptical Top middle and bottom...the lower most spring is straight across and much thicker.

I know I can get lowering shackles and such but money is an issue at the moment. Looking for the inexpensive solution and achieve a few inches of lowering.

Thanks!

Re: Lowering Rear Leaf Springs

4/6 drop, flip kit, drop spindles and cut a coil off front springs....could be done easily for under $300.

Re: Lowering Rear Leaf Springs

Removing the thick overload and one thin leaf(bottom) will only net you about 1 1/2in to 2in of drop or you can add a 2in drop shackle for less than $50 and it bolts right in, it much less work and you will be less prone to axle wrap under hard acceleration.
