need help fixing a backyard lowering job on my 70 c-10

looks like the guy I bought my truck from heated the springs to lower the truck. it sits at a good height but I wanna do it right. looks like about a 4 1/2 6 drop judging by you guys pictures. how much am I lookin at and how hard is it to do??

Hi, and welcome to the board! There are several companies that make drop kits for your truck. Early Classic Enterprises (ECE), Classic Performance Parts (CPP) ,Mcgaughys, just to name a few. In my opinion (and the majority of others on this board) ECE is a really nice kit that is very complete. And, on top of that, their customer service is EXCELLENT. The ECE kit is $799. You will probably find that others are a little cheaper. Just remember that if your dropping the rear 6", you will need an adjustable track bar, and shock relocators. These will be included in the higher quality kits. These parts are relatively easy to put on. The most difficult part of the install will be getting the factory rivets out of your frame.

I looked in the pics section for examples of what the different lowering kits would look like but no luck on which kit was one the particular truck I was lookin at. id like to see what a 4 6 drop looks like and maybe one a little less dropped

This truck has a 3-1/2- 5 in drop BUT I t came back to stock ride height when I switched it from 15 in rims and 50 series tires to 17 in rims and 60 series tires.

I got your PM. Mine is lowered 4.5/6 using ECE stuff. My truck sits pretty level with 15" rallies. Most of the rake that my truck has is a result of tire height. Here is a bigger version of the avatar picture with the 20's on.

Really like the stance... What tire size/rim width do you use with the 15s? Any rubbing issues? Can it still be used as a truck/how much rear suspension travel left in the rear?

I'm guessing you're asking me. If not, just ignore this . The wheels in that picture are, 15x8 rear and 15x6.5 front. Tires are 275/60/15 rear and 235/70/15 front. Zero rubbing with the 15's.
Depends on what "still use it as a truck" means. Would I want to haul a load of rock? No. About the heaviest thing I've ever hauled in the bed since lowering it, Was a complete big block chevy engine I picked up for a friend before I painted it. I have no idea what one weighs, but it did ok.
I'm not sure on the exact amount of suspension travel. Mine has a c-notch, so it has a little more. I would guess that with the notch there is 6" or so.
All things considered, these trucks with a 4/6 drop are VERY drivable in my opinion.

Thank you so much... that is exactly what I was looking for. I want to lower my truck but still want to be able to use it. Seems like 4/6 is about as far as I should go.
