PPG 504 medium olive

I was told by a local shop that they could not get this in there top line ppg. They were able to mix it in omni but what I've heard is omni is a cheap paint. Anyone else have this problem trying to get this color in ppg? This color also I've seen in MANY variations. Sometimes more silver looking and sometimes even almost a neon green so I'm wondering if people are just trying to color match this. Thanks for any help

Re: PPG 504 medium olive

No, I've started with ppg epoxy so I'd prefer to keep the entire line. It is an option though, thanks

Re: PPG 504 medium olive

Your going have to be careful with 504 in PPG, especially Deltron DBC, and Omni to a degree. Acrylic Urethane is pretty close mixing to the "code". I got my Deltron through TCP Global, because no local shop would mix it. The first batch mixed by code was very muted and greyish. I sent it back for a remix and the second batch was the same. I hand carried the paint and my glove box lid, and a can of AU that was real close back to them. They were able to custom mix it very close and that is what I used for my repaint. TCP and several other paint shops told me that the old codes and the new paint formulas, most notably PPG, don't yield the stock looking colors anymore. Also the base/clear further changes the appearance, the metal flake is more pronounced and on my 504 more of the gold tones come out in the sun. In the picture below is a can of AU and a splash of the "mix to code" 504 Deltron DBC (muted greyish green) over the AU. This is what freaked my painter out and started my journey with TCP Global to get the 504 I wanted. Just looking at the paint in the sun It does not look like the old color but when I hold the inside of the glove box door against it, it's clear it's the right color, just more vibrant. There are several pictures of my paint job in my build thread and album.

Re: PPG 504 medium olive

I had this same question last year and found that I couldn't get the answers I was looking for. I DID find Deltron PPG, in the correct medium olive green. I was not able to purchase it in the counties where I live so I ended up ordering it from New York. The guy was very knowledgeable and gave me a great price too. I'm at work tonight, but when I get up tomorrow I can find the info for you. I do recall that I found the place on a Chevelle board.

Re: PPG 504 medium olive

Here's a couple shots of how my paint turned out. I think it's a perfect match to the original. I included shots with different lighting so you can see how it can affect the look.

Deltron PPG, see post #7. I should have attached those photos to the original post I made. I'll get that info to you tomorrow.

Looks great! Did you have any problems getting the cowl hood to fit? That's the only thing I kinda wish I would have done to my truck before I painted it, but I heard it can be problematic.

My body guy did have to pie cut the cowl on each side and and bring it in some to get the body lines correct, and straighten out the front of the hood, it was bowd in so it had a gap betwwen it and the grille. But it fits Great now !!! "LOL"
