Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside
Looking really nice Chuck. It won't be long now and you will be cruising
Tell me about you steering wheel. Where can I get one like it with a Chevy emblem on the horn button? How much smaller is it than stock in diameter? Price? I have a super nice original on my 72 (black) but it is too dog gone big. It is like driving an early Corvette, all steering wheel in there. I love that style of steering wheel you chose. Take care, Tom

Tom, This 15'' wheel is called a comfort grip wheel. It came on Chevelles Camaros and I think some Corvettes. There are many colors also. Mine is an original one. They do make these after market. I bought just the wheel for $100 at a swap meet. I had to buy the hub, horn contact and the Chevy horn button which I covered w/a GMC wheel center cap sticker thats stainless also. You can buy the whole kit off of Ebay. You need to get the right hub for it tho. My hub is the one thats for 67-68 Camaro. I can get part #s if you need to order one. Heres some samples http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-1972-CH...ade0f8&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAMARO-CHEVE...7e7fba&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAMARO-CHEVE...17f2a1&vxp=mtr The hub similar to what I got http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steering-Whe...6af091&vxp=mtr

Tom I forgot to add If you buy a used one make sure its not bent or sticky. A lot are sticky. Mine has a shine on it but I do need to clean it. Its a little dirty.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside
Thanks. Its actually truck bed liner and it really laid down and dried nicely. It has an even texture almost like sandpaper when dry. I was surprised by it the next morning how well it looked. My only advice is to do it early on and not after the cab is on.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside
My son helped me put the mirrors on and I got the wiring gutters on. I am waiting on some 1/4'' loom to come in for some small spots then it'll be done. The carpet came in today. Still no Dynamat. I also modified the hood prop thanks to Josh's idea. Its more towards the middle now so less flex on the hood. My son also helped me put the anti-rattle hood pads. I seemed to have lost or gave away my e brake cable clamp. I had a 69-up and they are different.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside
I like the 71-72 mirrors better than the earlier ones although they aren't ''correct''. I had some earlier ones on a truck before and they shook so much they were useless.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside
I like the style of the 71-72 better too, looks great Chuck!. Did you drill the holes in the doors? I still need to drill mine and from the assembly manual, it's difficult to get the proper location. It's hard for me to tell exactly where they are referencing.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside
Thanks Mike. It was all on sale too. Got it for 295 and some change. I ordered a hidden antenna and a box to mount in the console. I'm gonna try to copy what Livrat did in his. I hope mine looks half as good as his.
