Please Don't It Throw Away....
In the years I've been a member here, I've ssen many build threads. I've seen lots of Barn Finds and new members with their recent purchase.
In that time, I've seen lots of them with the original 64-66 mats. But, for some reason, when someone first starts their build thread or start to do some upgrades, one of the things they do early on is tear out the old dirty mat. We just aren't aware when first stepping into our hobby that the mats are no longer available. Recently at a local wrecking yard I saw a mat that was obviously ripped and torn out to see the condition of the high hump. . So please, take some care and be gentle with them. I'm not looking for one now, but when I was, MisterC was kind to give me his. Myself, I don't care if there is a little wear or even some holes. For my goal with my project, an original mat with a few tears and a hole here and there will fit in just fine. A lot of these old patina guys. Ratrod guys. Or just a work truck would probably be tickled pink to have an old original mat - whether there are a few holes in it or not. .

Re: Please Don't It Throw Away....
i hear ya on the mats, when i started my build in 98' the mats where to be had, but i wasnt in the market or had the knowledge to jump on them then. so many yrs later i was able to snag 2 one NOS and a NOSR and they werent cheap!!! i have an issue with bolts/nuts and brackets being tossed, these items are very unique and have a "soul" and to just toss for the newer shiny kid on the block. so please keep the mats and the hardware, itall be cheaper and keep the value of these trucks!!!

Your truck is one of the ones I had in mind.
If I owned your truck, I would prefer an old original mat with tears in it, rather than a new mat incorrect for our generation.

Re: Please Don't It Throw Away....
I would like to add to this, body parts. To some, if they are dented or rusted, they throw them away and go buy reproduction parts, which typically don't fit for crap. Some of us would rather fix an original body panel or fender as opposed to dealing with less than desireable repro parts.

Re: Please Don't It Throw Away....
Having parted out a truck or car in my time I'll devils advocate....much of the stuff you can't give away. Folks won't pay to ship glass, fenders that need work, fender struts, clutch pedals, and on and on ad infinitum.....but they will pay to ship replacement parts. Seems a bit weird.
I put plenty of stuff up here and elsewhere for cheep to free, including brass tank Harrison radiators, the ones everybody says, "it'll go, everybody wants em!".....Not, not even when they are cheep. So, off much of it went to be recycled and I used the money to top off the fuel tank. If no one wants it after a bit of time, clean off yer shelves I say....cause no one wants it. |

Case in point- have had a complete small back window set of factory green glass for '64-66 stored for 3 years because they are so collectible. Even have complete wing window assemblies, not just glass. Guess it's not worth much, no one will buy them. |

Re: Please Don't It Throw Away....
I have been to the Carlisle swap meet a few time looking for truck parts and always find what I need. I seem to always pay a steep price for some of the parts and dirt cheap on others. I also feel like the big swap meets are the place to sell a lot of this stuff.
