A set of 15" tires cost more than a new set of 16 or 17" rims AND tires!

Priced a new set of tires for my 72 4X yesterday and they wanted $300 each! Five years ago I paid $150 each for the same tires. It will be cheaper to buy a new set of 16" or 17" aluminum rims and tires! I really didn't want to get new rims but it's only going to get worse since 15" are becoming a thing of the past. Now I get to decide again on rims, pain in the butt! Here's what I have now, I may as well go for a new look, any suggestions?

What size are you looking for? And what type of tire do you like, looks like you're running an all terrain now. Prices for all tires seem to be high, I know I was nearly 400 a pop for my 315/70/17s (35x12.5x17) Duratracs.

You could also try shopping the tire shops, I've had Discount Tire drop tire prices by $75 a tire when I started walking out the door and hesitated pulling the trigger on a set of tires from them. Everything is negotiable, just be classy about it.

17 or 18" Mickey Thompson classic 2s! When I was tire shipping for my Tahoe I believe 18$ were cheaper than 17$ when it came to tires...
