Exhaust Routing With Tranny Change
I want to put duel exhaust on my truck. However, I also plan on swapping in a 700R4 in place of my Powerglide. Should I wait until after the tranny swap for the exhaust? I'm not sure if moving that tranny crossmember will change my routing options.

Re: Exhaust Routing With Tranny Change
That's a nice exhaust setup, simple routing and doesn't hang down.
I would do the transmission first and then exhaust. It may not be different, but it sucks to go back and do something twice. I've done tranny/exhaust swaps simultaneously: I unbolt (or more likely cut off) the stock exhaust, swap the tranny, and then build the new exhaust or drive nicely to an exhaust shop. It's also nice to have the exhaust out of the way when muscling a trans in/out.

Re: Exhaust Routing With Tranny Change
70blackfish, is that shorty headers, exhaust manifolds, or what? I really like your setup. What are the components?
OK, I'll wait. I figured it would be easier to do during or after. It's just that saving for the tranny swap will take longer and I'm anxoius to get some rumbling going on!!!

Re: Exhaust Routing With Tranny Change
headman shorty headers, the crossmember came from the truck shop in orange. I'm pretty sure it said the box was from POL. i made holes in the factory trailering arm crossmember and welded in 4 inch pipe....
