Bruce, I'm not too far away here in Sherwood, I'll ask around and let you know. Awesome build so far.

Brannon - sorry to here about your son, I hope things work out for you and your family.

Re: Wild C10 project

Ok, here's pics of the 400 sbc that was in the original 67' truck I had started with. When I bought the truck the motor and 700R4 trans were fresh rebuilds and ran great. Bruce ended up w it after all the trading, well decided it would look great under the hood of this build w a lil TLC. Going for that old school look.. In these pics it's already ground down, was red..

1970 z-28 double hump heads....I hate posting these pics cause the motor looks horrible right now. Thinking on going w a gun metal charcoal color on the motor and accents against the black..

Re: Wild C10 project

Guess nobody likes my 400 sbc idea...this motor was full of torque and pulled hard all the way to bout 5300 rpm. Was a fresh rebuild so really don't want to pull the heads to see if they bored it to a 406, not sure why they wouldn't at that stage. It's a roller motor w a good cam. Plans are to get it painted gun metal grey with the batwing caddi/olds air breather on top to give that nostalgic look...

Re: Wild C10 project

Nice work!
I like the 400 idea but then I love tellin people it's a high torque 265ci.
Then I lite the tires with a tap of the gas pedal.
Besides you already have it and you can always upgrade later.
And it would be easy on the budget.
I say use it!
Are you sure it's a 400?
What are the casting #'s?
Oh and most pistons will have the .030 stamped into the top indicating the bore.
If it hasn't been run much it will still be visible through a spark plug hole possibly.

That's a good block.
Same as mine.
How about the heads?
I used the stock heads but punched them to 2.02's
And had the bowls worked for the new valves.
It has been a very reliable engine.
Of course there was a lot more than that done to it but blah blah.

Glad to hear...the heads are casting #3927186 69' to 70' Z28 64cc. I haven't measured the valves, probably still stock. I was impressed with it in the 67'
