Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
Long time watcher, second time poster.
My Camper Special. 292, 4 speed, manual steering, manual brakes, and I only have one foot! Actually, this is the first thing I drove after getting a prosthetic! Just gotta pay attention to which pedal that right foot is on! I'm going for that patchwork look, a different color on every panel, sorta. Mostly original painted panels, just mixed and matched. Bout the truck in 95 to make dump runs, and it's served well. Never seen the inside of a garage while I've owned it... Needs rockers and floors, but it runs strong (2nd engine) and the people either dig it, or get the hell out of the way! Keep up the 3/4 ton love! |

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
Nice truck! Be careful talking about how you drive a normal 4 speed truck with a prosthetic leg, though--you don't want to make all the tough guys out there that think it's too hard for them to drive a truck with a clutch feel too bad about themselves, do you?

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
Well, I did have the prosthetic come off in traffic once... that was interesting.
I'm just looking upgrade the beast w/newer 3/4 ton suspension, and make it so it can drive with the other kids. That low gear ratio is a killer. |

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
Damn, I bet that was kind of interesting! You're looking to put disk brakes and a 3.xx rear end in it, I guess? No doubt that will probably make it a lot less thirsty cruising in the hammer lane.

Very nice hotrod66! What size wheels and tires do you have on the truck in the second picture?

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
I like this thread guys, still having technical difficulties with posting pics. I've installed photo bucket app, & tried snap bucket too. I've tried the paperclip icon and it still tells me no file chosen. How the heck do I post a pic? My C20 is my daily driving carpenter rig, it ain't much but it does get a lot of attention on the job sites.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
FYI, the standard wheel on your 3/4 ton was the one piece 17.5", the multipiece wheels were the heavy duty option. Judging by the spare, it came with 15" 3 piece wheels originally. If your interested in preserving the "factory look", optional 19.5" wheels are the hot ticket. IMO, 80's wheels and hubcaps have a nasty habit of killing the factory look.

I think they would look more "right" with the gold and black anodizing (?) on the hubcaps removed, too; I'm going to try it in a day or two and see what it looks like (I might also paint the bowtie or the circle around it red). How's the rear tire clearance with the 265/75r16's? |

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
My 66 3/4 ton GMC long bed (that I traded my 70 VW squareback to get..STRAIGHT TRADE!) and my buddies 70 ford f100 short bed wide block (thing is quick and sick as hell now. both us went through high school together (sadly getting the trucks after) and love both. Even if they are complete polar opposites we ride and cause chaos together all day! his truck makes upwards of 500hp right now. Will soon hopefully in the next three weeks or so be starting my build of a mid 90's super charged 7.4L vtec to throw under ole' Bessy. (we are both the youngest guys i've seen out here in Sin City to have these trucks together both of us are 19 and living LARGE!)

I was pushing it at 55 MPH. P/O put a 4 speed with a granny gear but gave me the original 3 speed on the tree tranny
