Lowering block /perch width

I have a 53 1/2 ton gmc with 1 3/4 in.wide rear leaf springs .I am installing a 68 tempest 3 in. diameter rear. I want to use 2 in. drop lowering blocks and new perches. What width do I need for the perches and lowering blocks. Do they have to be the same width. I see them in 2, 2 1/4 Is it that important?

Re: Lowering block /perch width

I've got lowering blocks / perches made out of 2x4 1/8" wall square tubing. They are welded to a 12 bolt axle out of a c10 mounted to the stock springs. The blocks are only 1/8" wider each side than the spring and I've had no problems. Just Use the right size u bolts and make good strong mounting plates for under the springs and you should be good to go

Re: Lowering block /perch width

you want the perches and the blocks the same width as the springs,
you want to mount the ubolts straight and tight up against the blocks and springs,
i found 1-3/4" perches at a 4wheel drive /Jeep Shop.
i found 2 pieces of aluminum on ebay 1-3/4 by 2"
