Angry My 68 got hit!!!!

Well, folks, yesterday, some idiot got into my lane, hit me hard and kept going. That mid 90's Grand Prix is messed up. Look at the damage. I've luckly got 2 witnesses that got his Plate Number, and a video of the accident (Praise God!). Comments on what you would do when you have only liablity Insurance, my agent doesn't seem to want to help me (my claims guy, he's cool), and you are 20 and don't know what to do!

Look at the two pictures I've attached and tell me if He didn't get me good!

start with a police report. three body shop estimates. contact your insurance agent, adjuster, and a lawyer. Does your neck hurt? did you bruise your ribs on the door? dont lie be honest....you messing with your own insurance rates for false claims. and mine. then start on the parts board buyin what ya need to put her back together.

Looks like the paint will be easy to match...ha ha ha lol

Dude that sucks. hope the other guy has insurance. and look into the cost of uninsured/underinsured insurance rider for your policy

i have his plate #, two witnesses, Video tape (don't know how good it is yet). I wasn't hurt (as far as i know) as I was almost stopped.

But what gets me is the fact that the fool ran?? why???

start with a police report. three body shop estimates. contact your insurance agent and file a report there. If you hurt your insurance covers your medical for now throughno fault. you go to the doctors and follow their advice. Next ask the police to provide you with the registered owner of the vehicle of the car that struck you. make a copy of the video for them . File a suit in your court for the maximum money allowed your time for investigating etc is worth something and then wait for the court date. chances are the car was stolen or something and then youll have to sue your own insurance for under insured un insured motorist not having collision may force ya to eat the whole thing tho depends ont he laws of your state. If you can ID the driver of the car you may be able to negate the stolen car claim if it was hit and run keep us informed

Hate to say it but, he probably ran because he had no insurance.
The cops would have given him a ticket for no ins, which is probably above 400.00.
With that type of ticket, he could have possibly lost his license.
Or maybe he was drinking or on dope.

How did you get video? Was it in a parking lot or something?

I can feel for you. You've got more going for you than when someone hit
me a couple years ago, though. I couldn't get the plate #
when I tried chasing after him. Easily $4000 worth
of damage on a car I had nearly finished.

You should be alright, if the car was insured. After you get
more info from the owner and file the police report, try not
to lose any sleep over it. No one was hurt and that is the
main thing.

There was a small tire shop just ahead of the point of the accident with a servalance camera pointed and recording the accident. I'm not sure how the video looks.

But incedent happend on one of the most bussiest streets in Springfield, MO.

It was just a coidence that someone had a camera on it!! I praise God for that fact! I can't wait to see the video though!!

A very similar situation happened with my wife's van a couple of years ago. A guy hit her while she was parked, and she got the license number as he sped off. She called the cops, and they tracked the guy down.

Turned out the guy was insured... he was hoping in all the confusion that no one would get the license number. The police report was CRITICAL to getting his insurance company to pay... it's otherwise a "he said she said" situation since there were no other witnesses.

I'd be bummed too. She looks repairable though. Those parts shouldn't be that hard to find good used.

Wether the other guy has insurance or not, you need to go after him. Hit and run is a felony, plus he'll have a huge judgement against him that will mess up his credit for years. Make him sorry he ran.

Oh, she's repariable!! Don't think the frame's bent.

Got the police report. As a matter of fact, the Leaving the Scene of an Accident Dpt of the Spfld PD has it and is investigating!!

Just needs a front clip. Did you guys know that NADA says that truck in Poor condition is worth $5,300?

Plus, the fender and bumper was just pressed onto the tire. The tow man and i used the spare tire holder (it won't stay under the truck) to pry it back just enough to get out of the brand new tire tread!! so it would roll a little easier. No biggie, i plan on getting this one fixed soon!!!!

Thanks guys for all your help. I'm enjoying hearing the stories. Keep em up!!

some people are just idiots...i hope the cops and the judicial system beat that guy into the ground.

last year when i was commuting to college, I was involved in a 4 car pileup. the guy that caused it (by slamming his brakes instead of merging onto the exit ramp) decided to leave the scene, and i was dazed and forgot to take down his lic #. an older woman in a firebird rearended him, i rearended the firebird, and then a dodge ram 4x4 hit me, going about 50 mph. ouch. anyway, the older woman didn't get cited because the cop was too busy looking at my car and the dodge. the driver of the dodge and myself got cited. when i told the officer about the first guy that left, she said "he doesn't matter." I was too shaken up to try and persue it at that point. as it turned out, the guy in the dodge was a total lowlife. he was driving on an expired AND suspended license, no insurance, and the icing on the cake was the truck wasnt even his...it was his buddy's that he borrowed. It didnt look to be badly damaged, but it beat my olds' sh1t in. anyway, he was arrested and later pursued by my insurance co. grr...whole episode still makes me angry. the nerve of some people...

Man that sucks. Nothing worse than people who won't take responsibility for their own actions

I'm close to Springfield.....and there are several salvage yards in my area ('bout an hour and a half away) that have these trucks....dunno about good body panels for a '68 though, but i can give you the names and phone #'s if you want.

Good luck!
