Re: 1972 GMC K1500 Green/White LWB One Owner

Sucks about the MVD. I wonder if that will affect my plans. I have a pair of 72 Fergus County plates, but it looks like I may end up buying this 71 I just found. I wonder if they will let me roll with that.

I didn't detail the paint but a guy I know with a 70 4wd Chevy is a local detailer and he did the work. I can ask what he used but I imagine buffing compound followed by a wax job. It really shined up nicely from the dull finish it originally had.

Love the truck. You've made some good improvements too. Same thing I'd do.

I wish mine were in that shape when I got hold of her. I had to get another bed another cab another front clip another motor and tons of other stuff. The only big component I saved from my older truck was the th400 transmission. Love is blind I guess.

Pete, Very nice find!! The Previous owner must have loved that truck! He took very good care of it over the years. We don't see trucks like this here in michigan. Our salted winter roads have pretty much destroyed them all! once again Very nice!! Looking foward to seeing your updates.

Pete, awesome find and nice cleaning and spiffing up. It sure cleaned up nice. Now you have 2 green units. And yeah, good luck staying off cl. on the tonneau cover, I have really been thinking of getting the one from lmc that snaps to a frame and the frame can hinge like a lid. It's a little more money, but should be more user friendly.

What product did you use to bring you paint color back?

Sorry, I never asked the body guy what the product was but to my understanding it was some type of buffing compound chased by a wax job.

Seems spring has arrived a bit early with some good rains to wash the salt away. I took advantage of the weather and had a set of 15x8 steel wheels added to the truck. I really need to address the sagging rear springs.

Thank you!

I just installed 2" add-a-leafs in the rear that took the sag away. It's hard to tell but this pic is post added leafs with two full aux tanks, the full size spare, rear step bumper, and the camper shell.
