3 on the tree won't shift out of reverse
I finally found a shifter arm for my 3spd manual column. Tore it apart, cleaned, lubed everything, and reassembled. I got it in the truck this afternoon and after starting the truck, it will not shift out of reverse. I can remove the linkage from the column under the hood and the trans with shift into first with no problem. It has to be in the reverse position to remove the key and to start the truck. Any ideas as to what may be hanging up, or what to look for? When I had everything apart, nothing seemed to be wore too bad, just normal wear. On the bright side, I did get to drive the truck, even though it was backwards, for the first time since I've owned it.

ate the shift arms bent? I had one that the arm was bent and would hang up on something on an old 60s flat nose van

Did you adjust the shifter when you installed the new rod?

Re: 3 on the tree won't shift out of reverse
The new part was the lever on the column that you grab to shift gears. I'm sure shifter arm isn't the correct name for it. The clutch felt just a little mushy, so I bled the the line and got just a little air out. I guess it was enough to cause my problem. Truck fired up and shifted just fine after that. Took it around the neighborhood a couple of times and everything seems to be good. The tires are shot, so I hate to drive it very much. The new wheels and tires should be here Tuesday. Hopefully I can get them mounted and get it to an alignment shop Tue or Wed. I still have a couple little problems to fix like the glove box latch not shutting and still need to get the dash put back on. I hope to be able to start driving it around by the end of this coming week.
