I could use some help with 402/tbi/4l80e...

Hi,

I am installing TBI on my 402 and a 99+ 4l80E transmission. I am getting some help from a local EFI guy. He isn't perfectly familiar with everything needed to connect the 4l80E. We know the correct late model ECM and have it, He builds his own harnesses, and he said we need the VSSB/DRAC and the connector. I see them on EBAY, is there a specific one needed or just a truck one from say, 94?

Welcome to you I would say the 94 should be the right one try to get one from a 3/4 ton with c6p rpo code that is the 8600 gvw. I built a ton of those trucks back in the day, my favorite was a white one with red int.well maybe just a 3/4 of a ton. No I build late model wrecks and the Silverado is my main jam the 3/4 is always hot for me in farming town. Jim

Correct C6P is /was the order [hence] the rpo[that has something to do with the production order at the assembly] GM has used the RPO codes for many years. For example the Z28 was a suspension code when they decided not to call the car the Panther at the last second before the press release they used the RPO code Z28 instead on that level of the car. Just as today's Z71 truck is a suspension code the C6p was the heavy duty 3/4 ton. back in that day you could get a 7200 6 lug 3/4 and the 8600 3/4 ton c6p the heavy duty real deal thing. The lighter 3/4 shared a few things with the 1/2 ton truck and the heavy 3/4 shared a few things with the 1 ton.
