Remove front bag without pulling brakes/spindle?

I have a leaky front air bag and I can hear the fitting hissing. I want to know if it is possible to just unbolt the upper bag mount and compress the air bag enough to slide it out to adjust or change the air fitting, or do I have to go through the whole process of removing the brakes and dropping the spindle to get it out. Just want the easiest way to stop the leak. Thanks.

Here is an example picture, my air line is running through a drilled hole in the crossmember.

I would think you should be able to.

Hello to all. Yes it can be done. Just remove the shock relocaters, and remove the air line. oh BTW, eat your Wheaties. Its gonna take a lil effort to compress the 2600 dominator Air bag small enough to fit through you space. Good luck.

This is why I try to make a "loop" in the air line on top of the bag, so you will have excess line to lower the air bag and upper bag plate down.
Then you can easily disconnect the line from the bag fitting,

You can compress it down and use some really big c clamps to hold it in place while you do the work. I unbolt the top plate and leave the bag mounted. Seems easier to manage that way.

Re: Remove fron bag without pulling brakes/spindle?

In the past I've had luck jacking the truck up and put a jack stand under the frame side of the bag you want to remove. Than I'll put a floor jack under the control arm and lift the truck up off the jack stand. Hit the switch for that bag to release the air in the bag. This will allow the truck to drop down onto the jack stand and also compress the air bag. The compressed air bag should now be small enough to fit through the space needed to pull it out.

Cool, thanks all for the unanimous response. I am going to give it a try. Will report back with the results.
